No, it's not a joke! Look here - http//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180097370187
It's already beyond my price range, so oh well. It would be the event of a lifetime to talk with Dr. Hawking. Oh, and floating around in a ship would be pretty cool too 8)

$2550 is a steal. I'm sure it'll get bid to 10x that or more.

Am I the only one who thinks this would make for very awkward conversation?

Sweet. The Zero-G thing takes place on my birthday, lol.

I would love to take that Zero-G ride. Not a super big fan of Hawking so that would be kind of boring to me. lol
the ride would rock, i think it would be interesting to chat with that brilliant man

It WOULD be cool, but I can't imagine spending $11,000+ to do it!
Did you see this in the description?
[i617f85a686]Opportunity to interact with Prof. Hawking during the experience, which might include taking photographs, personal communication, etc.
Weightless flight with Prof. Hawking and other guests on The ZERO-G Experience, taking off from the Shuttle Landing Facility at the Kennedy Space Center in Central Florida on April 26, 2007. [/i617f85a686]
...which MIGHT include personal communication? I would be pissed if I spent $11K on the trip and he didn't even say hello! o

Well the money is 100% for charity...
So if someone had enough money.. it would be a cool thing to do.

What the hell would you say to the guy?
Well I know that Professor Hawking is a strong supporter of stem cell research... So I guess I would ask him about his thoughts on medical marijuana... Then I guess I would ask some questions about black holes shrug

I really can't stand Hawkings. I would think the flight was cool, but overall I find the package to be worth less b/c he is part of it.

If it was an actual trip to space, it would be a lot better.

Trips to space cost about $20 million; currently only Russia offers such a service to the public.

I don't know it's so much about what [b86cd0a870d]I [/b86cd0a870d]would say - it's more about hearing his thoughts on things. Granted, it'd be a bit hard to talk much on the flight, haha! D

I just don't really buy some of his doomsday ideas/theories, and overall I just disagree with a lot of his opinions on stuff. I think I'm entitled to that, and I wouldn't pay to go on a zero gravity flight w/ him because it surely would be more fun without all the production I am sure the event will carry w/ him.

Am I the only one that thinks he might come out of his wheelchair at zero gravity

I'm sure he will - that's probably most of the appeal to him. If you read further into the flight foundation they have offered and continue to offer this opportunity to similarly disabled people

Oh well, must have broke some kind of eBay rule, or they thought it was fake..
How much was it going for, before it got taken down?

It was featured on the ebay front page. I don't know why they might have removed it. Maybe an employee that wasn't aware of the charity auction?
