Prom Stories (mine wasn't very good)

Well prom is coming around the corner in April or May. This would be my second prom, but I did get fucked over last year. Apparently the girl I asked broke up with her boyfriend a week earlier ( I didn't even know she had one). She said yes to me and was very happy. Turns out she was playing me like a flute. She was just trying to get even at her boyfriend, and it worked. They got back together, and I wasn't even aware. I was just about to buy the prom tickets when a good friend of mine told me what was going on. Thankfully I didn't waste over $200 on tickets for an event I wasn't even going to go to. So yeah I got fucked over big time. The girl still tries to talk to me like she did nothing wrong. I just tell her to fuck off. Anyone else had a terrible prom experience like mine? I really want to go this year, but I just don't know who to ask. It seems that in my small school, every girl has a boyfriend. No bitch better try to pull a stunt like that on me again.

Well, I didn't go to mine. I went to my girlfriend/finance. Then my mom called me a bastard because she couldn't take pictures of the people she knew at my school. A couple weeks later she went crazy and ripped up pictures of me and my girlfriend from prom. I found out about it and lived with a friend until the end of the school year and then moved in with my dad.

So I guess my prom had a pretty big impact.

Don't worry about it. Girls are just as human as boys. There are evil ones and good ones (for the most part P ).

Oh and I would definitely not get too worried or hung up on finding a girl at your age. There have been plenty of girls during my ripe old age of 96.

But about prom...For my senior prom I had the perfect boyfriend (thought we were gonna get married), and we had planned the perfect prom with all of my friends. It was going to be great...until it was supposed to rain that day. So my friends and I had planned two places to take pictures...one if it rained and one if it didn't. Well, I was getting ready running around taking care of all the shit girls do, and it was cloudy...so i thought we were gonna take pics at the inside place because of rain...well i was wrong. So my boyfriend and I drove around for an hour before prom (not able to find the inside place, or able to get ahold of anyone because they were taking pics) and by the time we got to prom I had cried off all my make-up...
so for my senior prom I have no pictures with any of my friends before hand...I guess it could ahve been worse. shrug

but after prom...thats another story... D

Who cares???? I went to 2 proms, and neither one lived up to expectations. I didn't even bother going to my senior prom. Prom is just another stupid high school dance that happens every year. The only differences are you get dressed up, blow more a ton more money, and it usually is somewhere better than the HS gym/cafeteria.

Alright, my bad. I thought it was quite a funny picture of him because the shot distorted the size of his nose and he had a "sly" look to him. If you post a silly picture like that on the internet, you should assume that people might poke fun at it. I didn't think it'd be such a big deal but whatever; it won't happen again. Sometimes I have a blurred boundary of what's appropriate for this forum and what's not and I don't mind being corrected.

I had kind of a bad one. My sort-of girlfriend at the time wanted to go with me, but the guy she broke up with had already paid for his suit and everything. She felt bad about him wasting money. I told her to get over it, and don't go with him, since they just broke up. But they went anyway. I went just for the grand march, and he saw me there, and apparently thought they were still a thing, so he got pissed. A bunch of high-school garbage, and I'm glad I'm gone from there. That girl was using me for the rebound anyway, and she dragged it out for about 6 months!

(some # of years after proms) I only remember the highlights for both proms - going / meeting up with friends, lots of smiling pictures, 40 pounds ago.

point being - it may seem like the biggest event in your life right now, but try to take it in stride, everything will be cool. If you go, have fun, if you don't, have fun and revel in the extra money in your pocket.

Well mine was over 10 years ago now...

We don't really have "proms" up here in Canada. We had grad, then an aftergrad party after all the exams were over. There was this guy who I had liked for a REALLY long time, randomly lusting after him but I didn't really even know him, you know how it is in high school. Anyhow, then I worked up the courage to ask him to dance at the aftergrad. But they didn't play a SINGLE slow song the ENTIRE night. There was some weird Mexican live group, some canned music, terrible stuff to do, no booze, etc. I remember walking home at about 4 in the morning after we got dropped back off at school thinking "well hmph, so much for that". I think I cried a little too.

Funny thing is, a couple of years later he turned up at the Music School where I was working on my BMus (weird coincidence). He was still hot, but in a dumb-guy hot kinda way. I had lost all interest!

OK, on to my non-grad story (but still related) in Uni I met this great looking guy, but again it was all just looks and I didn't even know him, just secretly ogled him a lot. Couple years go by and he breaks up with his long-time girlfriend. I break up with the guy I'm seeing (it wasn't working) and end up with the (second) great looking guy, somehow. He turns out to be awesome and super smart. 10 years later, and he's still mine.

My proms were so long ago I have only the vaguest recollections of how they went. That's how important they'll be to you when you get older. ) I have much fonder memories of college and Army partying and socializing, especially meeting my wife (which was in a dance club).

To be perfectly honest I went to about 10 or 11 proms total during high school. All the end of year proms, winter balls, etc. I went for fun, to hang out with friends, get dressed up, occasionally having the sexy date ;) One in particular that stands out to me was when I was in 10th grade and got asked to go to the Senior prom with someone. There were about 4 total sophomores there in the 100s of people and I felt uber cool cool Plus my date was really cute and the sweetest guy. For my own actual senior prom the decorating committee did an awesome job with our theme, "A Night in Paris". We had a mini Eifel Tower made out of balloons that was 20 ft high in the middle of the dance floor. Also smaller (2 ft) towers as the centerpiece for each table that were made out of wire, one of which I was able to take home as a souvenir haha. Fabulous way to go out for the class of 2000!

Yah, maybe it's a girl thing - I went to...7 or 8? But then there was a fall formal plus spring formal (i.e. prom), so maybe there were just more back then. I don't know.

I DO know that none of them was as fabulous as they're made out to be - a lot of hype and nerves and dollars for...a high school dance. ) I didn't have bad times or any great stories, though.

I WOULD say that you should go to prom at least once, even if you just go with friends - that way you have nothing to regret later, and you can be like the rest of us saying "it wasn't that big of a deal" instead of wishful "I should have gone."

I personally dont think Winter and Spring formal are the same as Senior Proms. Usually when people refer to prom around here (florida where there are 2 seasons summer and not summer), they are speaking of the one in april/may.

Mine is sometime in mid may, I just got the details abotu it today in school. $100/person, meh..... I dont even think the girl im going to ask would want to go since she's a sophomore and she goes to a completely differnt school.... adn we arent dating, she's just an awesome friend. Oh well, I've had no problems going to homecoming dances on my lonesome, saves me trouble!

I actually just got back from Prom lol. I'm just waiting to go over to a friends and killing time on here and I came across this. Anyway I had a pretty good time, better than I actually imagined, and I went with a friend. If you want to go you should ask your friend, she will probably feel special to go since shes a sophomore, theres no pressure because she doesnt go to the school and youre just friends, and if she is that good of a friend she will want to go with you. Plus girls like to get dressed up and shit.

I got kicked out of prom after the Grand March because "students suspended from MCPS are not allowed to participate in games, dances, or sports teams" I tried convincing the deans that prom doesn't count but it would not fly.
