Check and make sure - they moved the invite section of the main page to the far left, in a box below the green box with your message filters list.

Between my three accounts, I now have 59. They must be planning on rolling out the first public release soon.

I still have 4... Oh well. I really don't care. It's not like they're worth anything anymore.

Me too, if they're giving everyone 50 why don't they just make them open to the public. I don't even have anyone to give them to.

I remember when they were going for $300 apiece on eBay. Then as soon as I got my invite through blogger, they started popping up everywhere - eBay prices dropped to like 99 cents overnight.

It was awhile ago. I think I got my Gmail invitation, as a longtime member of Blogger.com, sometime in May or June of 2004. Only a few weeks earlier, Gmal had been very selectively giving out invitations - the rollout of invites to Blogger users was their first big mass-distribution. Before Google decided to do this rollout (they own Blogger), the only way to get an invitation was to know someone who had an account - you can more than likely trace those chains of invites back to Blogger, Google, and Livejournal admins, owners, staff, etc. Because invitations were [b29559dc747]so[/b29559dc747] rare, the demand for them was incredibly high. There was indeed a fair span of time during which invitations would go for anywhere from $50-$350 on eBay. I saw many auctions close at over $250, just for an invitation.

Right after Blogger did their thing, and invites became far easier to come by, people tried to use their invitations to create "high-profile" or "in-demand" email= addresses, like email=ebay@gmail.comebay@gmail.com addresses, like email=ebay@gmail.comebay@gmail.com/email or email==catbreeder@gmail.comcatbreeder@gmail.com=catbreeder@gmail.comcatbreeder@gmail.com/email or equally lame things...those people then tried to sell the email addresses on eBay at ridiculously high prices - between a few hundred dollars up to around $10,000 (I actually saw a few of those). The demand for paid invites dropped to almost nil, though, since Google is making Gmail invites far more common. I have an account I have never yet touched, and I logged in and found I had 5 invites just in that one.

It's like the retarded Disney Vault bullshit Disney pulls with their DVDs - Toy Story now goes for $50-$70 on eBay just because Disney decided to "put it back in the vault" and quit making it available in stores. It's pretty easy - create false demand, which generates illogical amounts of revenue for resellers down the line. Yay for capitalism.

Oh, and...

If you give all those out and need more, I have 59 that will probably never get used. PM me if you want some of them.

Gmail is going public soon, thus they're trying to get even more invites out and test their system under are larger load of email users.
