Don't ask me why but i get hooked every year. Just wondering if anyone here is watching it this year. I really like Blake Lewis (the beatboxer dude) and Chris Richardson (Geek in The Pink). I don't really like the girls too much. What are ya'lls thoughts?

sanjai is just soo odd! no personality. he has the same expression all the way thru all of his performances. i really liked sundance but did think his peral jam song was a little flat. i am glad antonella got kicked off. got tired of hearing about her pics! but i bet she will go on to playboy or something. isn't it funny how people say that "my pic got into the wrong hands" when they get exposed? where i live our weatherman was found out that he had a heroin problem and wasn't fired but was offered help that he took but then someone posted a naked pic of him on myspace (or so he said) and the station fired him for that! odd i thought.

I heard that on Howard Sterns radio program he is trying to make American Idol a fraud, I guess you could say, by telling all of his listeners to call in and vote for sanjaya every week so he will go all the way to the end. AI would have someone win that nobody wanted/thought would win!

yeah this little 17 year old kid is shy as shit, but you can tell he's a really good kid. He's very humble and everything. He had some sort of vocal chord disease like a cancer or something long ago and had to have vocal chord surgery. He talks like a kid who's had vocal chord surgery but he sings so well it's amazing for what he's been through.

David Archuleta is from Utah, so he's all anyone ever talks about here. The local Fox news reports on him like he's the prime minister or something. He is really good and one of my favorites, but come on. His forgetting the lyrics thing the other night was really bad too.
My favorite is probably David Cook though, and maybe Brooke White on the girls side. And yeah Chikezie totally blew everyone out of the water. He went from being okay to one of the very best.

My favorite was Luke but his range and pitch was too high to make it to the finals. But he was hot. And David A. is so talented except his last performance did not do him justice at all. Ramielle is very good, the little Philipine girl - wow she can sing. But my pick is the Irish gal - she is great. Carly takes it if she picks the right songs.
And I like David Cook and Chikezie alot also. But that bike nurse chick has got to go. She stinks unless it is a Joplin song. And how many of those do you want to hear back to back. ???

ah ha! Sandy, you and I finally disagree on something! It took us half a year, but finally! I 100% disagree with you on the recording contract idea. See what American Idol (most of the time) successfully does (save Taylor Hicks) is find those few diamonds in the rough who can show that they have something that the other half million people or so do not.
They show that they can continuously modernize older songs and create new arrangements out of oldies to make them more contemporary, which shows a constant degree of creativity, they show that they can continuously sing like they want to be paid for it and deserve to be paid for it, and they prove that they have the staying power to stay consistent for longer than one or two good, solid performances will allow.
It is necessary to take it as far as they do with the 20 people, because this gives the general public enough time to determine which of these people can best display these characteristics and talents and ultimately do something with them. It also gives them time to build a rapport with the fans so that one subpar performance is not going to necessarily damn them.
If we just gave contracts to the top 20, not only would the market get completely flooded with below-par talent, but we would never get to see these people progress and develop into what they need to be to GET that contract.
This show is really designed quite well and forces contestants to develop and keeps them in fierce competition that just gets tougher and tougher every week. This is important if you truly want to make it in the music business. You must have something that everyone else doesn't or you are just going to fail, and this show gives them a chance to find exactly what that is.
Does anyone really want a David Hernandez cd? No. That guy is a bum.

I think that all the Idol winners are too mainstream...I mean they're gonna end up doing a pop album or 2....nothing really out of common
that said I do like Simon Cowell and I got hooked up on The X-Factor, the UK version of idol. it was nly bc one of the singers (Rhydian) was so different and good...he can sing Phantom of the Opera or Bohemian Rapsody.... that was what really attracts me, i don't think we need another 1 in a million pop star.

I'm going to make three points.
If Kristy Lee Cook doesn't get voted off this week I'm going to kill myself.
Who knew Carley was hot? Wow, that came out of no where.
And who else is sick of this 17 year old kid. "Aw shucks guys" Get the hell out of here. (I know I'm going to catch a ration of shit for this one because everyone is in love with this kid.)

I'm headed down to LA on Wednesday to see the finals of American Idol. I'm so excited. I made some posters, so if you see one that says "Fresno loves David A", that's me. i actually watched it last night and i've never really liked archuleta, but everything about him changes when the music starts (of course when it stops, he turns back into someone i don't like).
he trainwrecked 'imagine', but i thought he easily out-performed cook in all three segments.

I'm starting to think the show is very orchestrated. I had my hunches before, but honestly I think it really is a setup. The waves of support for the young guy were enormous. So many of those young girls voted for him. Cook was good, but he really screwed up last night.

Like Sanjaya last year?
Granted. He blew. However, after making it through every week, and developing some sort of weird cult following, he mysteriously was "voted" off the day before the debut of "Idol Gives Back," which was their giant promotion in which they went to Africa and made a bunch of orphans happy.
It was a big PR stunt and they couldn't have Sanjaya around to make a mockery of it, as that was all he was accomplishing by being on the show making a mockery of it. But the people loved him, the teeny bopper girls loved him and there's no goddamn way he got "voted" off when he did.
He did no better or no worse that week than any week before (as he was abysmal every week) and it was not a coincidence that he got the ax before the big plug.

Whatever, I agree with you. ) I would for this show to be exposed for being rigged. However, I am most likely wrong or that will never happen. I would enjoy it though.

ok, I know most of this forum doesn't like AI, but what an amazing experience. Can't explain it. It was one star after the other and I liked most of those people back when I was young. They also covered the young folks with the people like Jonas Brothers and Carrie Underwood (which by the way is beautiful).
David Cook was my pick and was actually quite surprised when they said his name. He was the one that looked like he was ready to be a star.
It was fun to watch the stuff going on during commercials. A few blunders that probably never got noticed on tv. What a blast. Would do it again in a heartbeat. 8) 8)

It was a kick. Our seats were on Simon's side of the theatre about 30 rows back. They were good. I got on the waiting list in the beginning of the year and they emailed me last week and said they had openings on the finale night. Pretty lucky. D
