A shrine in Houston is dedicated to an image bearing the likeness of the Virgin Mary that appeared on a baking pan on Feb. 23, 2007. Guadalupe Rodriguez, a cafeteria worker at Pugh Elementary on the East Side, not pictured, discovered the image while cleaning the dishes from lunch on Ash Wednesday. The cooking sheet is now on display in the front yard of a home a few blocks away from the school, with numerous visitors coming to see the image.

Mexican Catholicism roll They have all drifted from the roots of the religion and it has turned to idol worship, which is a sin.

what was trippy is there was a household we knew. Their virgin mary picture started to drip oil. A lot OF OILLL. Its was crazy. All the heads of the church came and confirmed it was a real miracle. It was just hanging on the wall dripping oil and it lasted fro a few months

I found the remains of Moses in my backyard. It was in a box, and the box was labeled "M0s3s 0wnZ". I really think it's him. Should I report it to a museum or something?

are you serious? When someone sees this, and take it as a miracle how is it your place or anyone else's to judge it?

To quote a scene from pulp fiction, it doesn't matter if god came down and stopped the bullets, or turned water into wine, or put mary on a pizza pan. What is important is they all felt the touch of God.

Being a Catholic I kinda agree. It seems like we worship items more than the words sometimes. Crosses and rosaries and holy water and communion etc...

I am not trying to bash Catholicism at all, just certain sects of it which do things like this... But the people built a shrine for the pizza pan and virgin Mary, there is no question of weather or not that is idol worship.

Junior take your emo anger problems somewhere else and dont make insulting threads...there are plenty of Catholics on the board and you insulting the head of the Church is a bit beyond disrespectful. Just because you wear black and cry all the time dont make fun of other peoples religions thats not cool.

01-03-2007 14:48:59

why is making fun of the pope or catholicism in general any worse than making fun of lianythingli?

And I don't think anyone needs to insult the catholic church. These days it seems they do enough of this themselves.

coming from a good catholic girl who was raised Italian catholic in a very italian/catholic neighborhood. I'm young but I've seen enough.

To quote Yamamoto Tsunetomo, "Matters of great concern should be treated lightly." I'd just as happily make fun of any religion over Christianity.

In this case, I don't make any jokes because it'd be too easy. But my point is that if people lighten up—particularly about the things they care most about—they will be much better off.

All of you are silly. Does anyone really think Mary decided to show herself in a pizza pan? Its just some random smudge. Why do we have to turn a silly thread into a debate on religion? Everyone chillax...
