New site, freegeektoys.com. Anyone try it yet?

Fairly new site, was curious if anyone here has tried it yet? www.freegeektoys.com (not posting my referral link).
Looks pretty good, and there's a special right now for the ebay offers, getting you extra referrals.
Am I the only one here that has tried it?

I don't see how your disagreement with referrals means it looks crappy. I have looked around and don't see much different from other sites other than the xbox and PS2's. But theirs are bundles, where other sites are standalones, so you are getting more.
I'm doing it, and I know people who know the admin, he's a pretty decent guy, so I trust it. Don't judge sites so quickly man!

Well i think it has potential but the site doesn't stand out as far as appearance goes and the referrals are crazy. 12 ref for a photo, 7 for a 20GB, 5 for a shuffle (512), 13 for the mac mini 40GB, 10 for the dvr, 10 for the Canon A85, 10 for the PS2 and 10 for the Xbox. Those numbers are outrageous thats not competitive with the other companies that are doing the same thing, if they wanna succeed they need to change those things. If they do then maybe they will survive but if not it wont happen, and I'm sure the admin is a decent guy.

7 for the xbox or ps2 (and again, they're bundles, with extra controllers and games, not the single console like most sites are offering). I don't know where you're getting the 10 from.
Anyways, I'm not here to justify it, once you sign up you can see they've got some pretty good offers, and some offers get you two referrals, so it's not as bad as you're making it out to be. Just thought I'd see if anyone had tried it yet.

The site doesn't look legit enough. I mean every free site now a days is like gratis. Atleast make the site stand out and make it easier rather than [b89fee41fd5]harder[/b89fee41fd5] to receive the goods then move it up a notch or two when a lot of people join.

haha no, I'm not the owner, but I would love to run a site like these. I DO know the guy who runs it though, and I just felt like defending his site (I am kissing ass to be a mod on the forums there). I have a referral number that's low enough that it's in my best interest to make sure people want to sign up there and help me get my prize, that's all!

I will stop defending it now though, and let anyone give it a look if they want. He has a forum on there if anyone has any suggestions, I would recommend people post there to say what they think can improve it!

I agree with stroid, why would I waste my time getting 5 refs for a shuffle when I can go to a different site and get a ipod for 5 refs.

Competition, Competition....None of the sites opening even think about it. At least have a descent number of referrals required on not make them so high.

I believe they do this so that it will take longer for people to get enough referrals, allowing them to make enough money to buy the gift first.
I feel that if you don't have the money to immediately send someone their gift, you shouldn't be doing it.

Bingo. This isn't a zero capital turnkey business. You need to have some capital where you can take losses and ship stuff out until the cash comes in. Nobody want to deal with a company that has cashflow problems.

no, that's not why I did it at all, I have more than enough startup capitol. The worst thing is people online just assuming and passing judgment.
I am the owner of that site, and I thought it best to come here and just straighten things out.
Yes, some of the referrals are one or two higher than some other sites. However, if you took the time to read the descriptions, you would see that some items are bundles, as thederek previously stated in this thread, so they have more things in them, therefore requiring more referrals.
Second, if you also went to the site to see, some of my offers don't require a credit card at all, or any payment from you, so I don't see why you're all in a huff for something being free to you.
And lastly, some of my offers, including a current promotion that I am running, gives you MORE than one referral credit. So had you done them, you would have one LESS referral to get towards your goal.

I hope you enjoy my site, and I hope that can be more the focus, rather than bickering over a small difference in referrals that are really comparable to elsewhere.

I can't believe people think they can get in on this business and make any money. Gratis and Offercentric have it covered.....they are the only ones that have any real street cred, and at this point, most of the people that are inetersted in doing these sites, have already done so.

Oh yeah, the in his original post, the poster tried to make it seem like he didn't know about the site by asking about it. But it's really his friends site, I hate that. Why don't you just say "go to my friends site" and not act like it's something brand new to you.

i just read the description on the xbox and he wrote that you should have one and have it modded! Yeah cause most legit companies tell you to modd your xbox. Im sure gratis is advertising that. ROFL!!!

I hardly think I was being rude, I simply came and straightened out some of the misinformation about my site that was being passed here. There was nothing angry or rude that I posted, and I recall adding that I was hoping it would stay a nice and light conversation.
As for me recommending people mod their Xboxes..how does that come across as making me non-legit?? I've seen it step-by-step shown on G4TechTV, does that make them an illegitimate haxxor network?
In case you missed the name, it's freeGEEKtoys, meaning I am aiming my site towards the geeky culture, and those types have modded xboxes.
If there's a legit beef about a site, I encourage people to talk about it. Since this site has been up for a grand total of 2 and a half days as of the time of this posting, I somehow doubt I've managed to piss too many people off yet enough to warrant a constant barrage of negativity.

Well other than the unbelievably original choice of gifts…this site has the lowest referral requirements out there!

freegeektoys just lower your referrals and maybe you will get some signups. Also what i was saying about the modded xbox is that Microsoft wouldnt appreciatte that to much and im almost positive its not legal to do that. Therefore i wouldnt recomend advertising that to get people to sign up for your site. But to each his own.

Theres like 30 other freesites out there that offer modded Xbox including mods4free.com...
