Buying a digital camera

I want to get a digital camera, but i'm not really sure what are good ones these days. I will use it a lot for going to concerts, so it needs to be something that can handle being really shaky and dark. Also it needs to be as small as possible, and point and shoot like. Also, i'm on a small budget, any ideas??

SD600. I got mine (well I gave it to the most lovely, beautiful, and intelligent girl ever) for $189.99 + $20.00 shipping off eBay. The cunt broke up with me 4 days later so I never got to see how it worked, but I did take one picture with it and it seemed great. I guess with the 6MP, it can print something like a 17" x 19" picture clear as day.
It seems to be one of the most popular cameras, and if you search SD you will probably be able to find a very good deal on it with a memory stick or something off an actual site and not eBay. Not saying eBay isn't an actual site, but you get what I mean.

I couldn't recommend the Canon SD series more. Great picture quality, great easy of use. The only drawback could be it's sensitivity to taking a beating. My mom dropped her SD550 from only a few feet off the ground and now it's broken. They're really thin for the technology that's in it. I have the SD700IS and I really like it.

Yeah, it also needs to be really sturdy. It will be in my pocket and I will be in the pits. Thats how I broke my last camera.
And yeah it has to be really good in the dark and somewhat shaky.

Just make sure you have some kind of noise reduction software like NoiseNinja. Personally, I just use the "Remove Noise" tool in Corel Paint Shop XI since it seems to work decently. Like I said, the Canon does a fine job (even at night). It's just that the Fuji takes some really amazing night pictures (for a compact). I think the Fuji has more manual controls too. I didn't take that into account when I bought my camera but now I'm really missing having a Shutter Priority setting.
And if it comes down to the SD700 IS vs the SD800 IS, go for the 700 even though it's older. Yes, the 800 comes with a wide angle but from most samples I've seen and most reviews I've read, it's definately not as sharp and the noise reduction algorithms are a bit Too aggressive while not gaining results that are noticeably better.

I'm still thinking the SD600 is the best for me so far. Even though its not as good in the dark and is more likely to break, I would rather have a $150 camera break than a $350 break. Also I need it to be somewhat automatic considering I will be taking shots while in such conditions.

I had this "problem" two weeks ago. I needed a camera that was small enough for parties, clubs, etc. I came across this and bought it.

I was looking for a canon aswell, but I saw this camera @ Target and it truly is small as hell. So i went for it. Not bad, I already took it to a few parties and it has taken quite a few hits. And if it breaks, I won't care because it wasn't an expensive camera..

Well it's not quite $150, but I did see it on a site about a month ago for $205 with a 2gb SD card included, and free shipping. I'm sure there's more deals out there like that. Goodluck.

She can't have been that smart if she broke up with you. =0)
I have the Canon S3 IS (bought it for myself as a present after Christmas). It's huge but I love it. Takes great pictures and really good video clips. My last camera was a Canon too and I've been very happy with both. Check out these sites for more opinions

I have to say that I like Canon cameras for their ability to handle high isos without too much noise. There again, I am just partial to my Rebel XT (dSLR). here is a good link for canon small compact cameras http//photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=15

Funniest thing I've see today. Anyways, like everyone else said, go with a canon powershot. Also, I would HIGHLY recomend one of the IS series if you're gonna be shooting in low light and jumping around like a mad man. The 700IS is really pricey but I'm pretty sure there is a less expensive model. IS ftw.

Sorry to bump this, but I think I decided to go with the SD600. Anyone know the cheapest place to get this that I can have it shipped and in my hands by March 8th? I'm going to Vegas to see AFI and I would really like to have it by then.

Lol, you sound too desperate for approval =P
I have the 7MP version of that camera, its alright, but the noise is pretty nasty in night shots AKA high ISO shots. Stick with your Canon, you're better off.

I use the sony dsc-w50.
It's a 6MP camera that takes amazing shots...I think its neat.
Plus it used the same memory card as my psp which was a major plus!
I paid $230 but the price dropped quite a bit.
I've seen it for $189 on deals2buy.com a few times.
