I just got the 5.5 generation 80gb ipod, do you think this is okay to use for a charger

http//www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.39

Or do you think its so cheap it will harm the ipod?

I went to a store that sells things for $5 or less. I got some iPod charger back in August, works with my 30 GB Video iPod, and it's great. D I love not having to plug it into my computer, lol.

I bought that exact same kit from ebay from someone for around $7. It works great. My ipod still works fine.

Great thanks, I think I will get this then. While on the subject of ipods, what would you suggest for a protector?

i have a question as well. i plan on going to UK next autumn and would like to take my ipod with me. The ipod is bought in canada, but does it work with any ipod europe chargers? i mean the nb of volts in the plug ins are different so i have to get a new charger, but do they all ''fit'' with the ipod?

yes, they all the iPods, US, Canada, UK, everyone has the same dock plug. They sell adapters at the airport in the UK and they also have electronic shops in Heathrow and Edinburough (sp?) so dont feel that its necessary to buy one here although its probably cheaper.

I suggest Agent18. You can get them from target or Agent18.com.

Well, considering that this is AxShop reincarnated, yes, I think there's a risk here.

Now the adapter you posted a link to has good specs (mainly a 1Amp output), and the picture matches up, but I bought this

http//www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.37

If you look at the comments, you'll see they only revised the listing to say it's a 600MaH (0.6Amp) model when I posted about it there. In fact, they still use the old picture of the 1Amp model. If you believe Kyle's response, then the manufacturer is at fault, which is enough reason to worry, but read his response

[quotef30c504d66]"Hi Tholek, the manufacturer is now producing the 600mA only because at a time we complained that their 1000mA wasn't outputting enough amps, as commented and tested by some customers."[/quotef30c504d66]

Keep in mind, the adapters were clearly [bf30c504d66]marked[/bf30c504d66] as 600MaH, yet in boxes marked 1A.

The manufacturer changed nothing, and their listing confirms this.

[quotef30c504d66]"Note the charger has 1Ah output marked on its specs on the box but in reality it can only provice 600mAh."[/quotef30c504d66]

and..

[quotef30c504d66]"Output DC5.0V, 600mA (although the packaging marks 1Ah)"[/quotef30c504d66]

The original AxShop, FifthUnit [if30c504d66]and[/if30c504d66] DealExtreme listings all stated it as 1A.

So, at best, Kyle is mistaken, but it doesn't quite come off that way. They did produce a refund when I complained, but I'm not inclined to buy from them again, under whatever name they choose to use.

Anyhow, just to clarify, I have a 60GB iPod Photo, and the 600MaH (assuming it's even that) model is useless for full charging. It can barely top off a charge, and isn't even detected by the iPod when it's running down. An iPod has an included 1A adapter likely because it's needed. Using an adapter with an output amperage that less than what's required can damage both items, as well as be a fire hazard.

Hopefully you get what's described, and that it lives up to stated specs, but then again, mine was supposed to as well. (

EDIT I forgot to mention, I ran across a Nigerian street peddler selling el cheapo cellphone and iPod accessories a few weeks back, and he had the same adapter. I asked if I could open the box to read the label.

Yup, 600MaH, with 1A on the box. $10 D

That Kyle gets around....

I guess I could've said "they suck", but wanted to give a reason why I felt this way. ;)

Essentially, I'm saying their track record is far from spotless, and that you might not get what you ordered. I hope you do, though.

Good luck.

and it's Edinburrrrrrgh.

So you just got ones that were the wrong voltage? So I should double check when I get it to make sure I get the right voltage??

Tholek

14-02-2007 22:51:17

Well, I didn't get what was described, and it was an issue. (Amperage, not voltage)

Yours is a different model. It may be ok, but if it's from the same manufacturer, the same problem may exist. Once you get yours, make sure all the specs match up, and then put it through the paces. Run down your iPod, and see if this works with it. If anythings wrong, contact them immediately.

I got a silicon one from ebay for my older ipod and it worked great. I dont htink that it was more than 12 shipped.

I never got a cover for my 5 gen ipod cause i believe its scratch resistant.

I haven't dealt with them in some time, but as for quality for price, www.lajo.biz is probably still the best for skins. (If you want silicone skins too)
