Ok, I'm about halfway through this game, and all I can say is that I love it. It's such a fun game, coming out for the 360, it's a game where you really don't need to think and have a lot of fun wasting time. Does anyone plan on buying it? I'm sure a lot of people will for the halo 3 beta, but it's actually worth the money as a game as well. I'm recommending this to everyone

I've got a hacked 360, so I play burned games, on on one of my torrent sites (www.revolutiontt.net) Someone obtained a copy, made the iso, and uploaded it. I'm still buying it however, because I'd rather be safe than sorry when it comes to the halo 3 beta.

It's really easy actually. Open it up, (voiding warranty) hook it up to your computer like a normal drive, run this special linux version (or a some other things you can do) to get it into mode b, or safe mode, and run this program some hackers made.

I don't think the firmware flashing on the XBOX 360 is worth it. I'd rather have homebrew over pirated games any day.

i beat it a few hours ago. i thought it was an alright game. by the ending, i would assume they are planning a sequel.
also, those of you with a firmware hack on the 360, i was reading that the rip for crackdown isn't a secure rip, so be careful with going online.

i like the games its just repetitive i wish they added motor cycles and when i walk over weapons pikc them up for me and i wish i can carry more than 2 unless i need exp. for it.

I played the demo and maxed out my strength quite easily. Is this how it is in the game? Can you max out your strength within the 1st 1/2 hour of playing? Kind of ridiculous if you ask me.

after playing the game some more it is to repetitive and easy. And if you kill alot of pedestrians its the same police reminds me of spiderman gets old very quick i knew it games you hear about the same year and come out of nowhere in 3-4 months will be lame. they should have not rushed it.

i have no clue wtf youre saying.
i didnt max out all my levels. driving i didn't really care about since theres no reason for that to even be a skill considering there are no driving missions. explosives i didnt use enough to upgrade past 3 and body i didnt get past 3. I only maxed out agility(so i could beat the final boss) and i maxed out aim ability just by going through the boss missions.

you beat the game already proof enough to me that it was a rushed game I didn't hear about this game till what? November and its out already?! I thought it would be out in August or July when i first heard about it. This game had to cost at least 7-8 million or even way less. its a ok game to me its like true crime.

paying $60 for a game or flash an xbox 360 dvd drive. hmmm. Even for me that was an easy decision.

Ms already knows about people using the firmware hack. If they don't then they're dumb. As far as the warranty is concerned they only offered a 3-4 month warranty initially but increased that to one year recently. If you've had a console for over a year then the warranty has expired. Also if they could find a way to find the consoles which were modded they would already have banned them from xbox live. However with people logging into xbox live on a game that hasnt been released yet ( crackdown) should make it easier for ms to identify who is modding.

If I like the game, I'm going to buy it (any other game, I can rent). Also, I would actually want to use the Live functionality from the game instead of using tunneling software like X-Link Kai.
Sure if there was a way to run homebrew and backups, I would utilize the backup functionality, I'm no hippocrate. But homebrew has more use to me than pirated games and the possibility of getting your gamertag and console banned from XBOX Live.

I hear what our saying. My xbox 360 died on me a few months ago and I tried contacting MS to repair it. They said it was passed its warranty and they would charge me 135 to fix. This was before they extended the warranty to 1 year. I figured I could do the process much cheaper myself since I knew it was a problem with my dvd drive. Once I purchased a replacement drive from ebay I no longer felt bad about pirating games since Microsoft pretty much forced me to buy a replacement drive when they shoudlve just replaced it for free.
As far as I know no one has been caught yet for firmware hacks. I really dont see how they could find out if your modded or not since the drive's firmware is telling the system that its actually a real xbox 360 game.

After playing crackdown for 4 hours straight it is amazing! Repetive hells no much more exciting than Grand theft auto infact this game doesnt even compare this game is just amazing. The jumping is too much fun. Does anyone know how to get the underbosses to appear on the map faster? After elimintating the muertos gang, the new gang underbosses take a while for them to show up. I dont know if I have to do something to get the intel to come out or its just waiting for it?

i don't understand how you don't see the repetitiveness you fight gang members then you go to a building and kill the king pin that all you do besides upgrading your abilities and collectibles if there is more to the game please tell me. At least GTA they put a story.

I played the Demo and I liked it. Only thing I didnt like was the car mobility. It kinda hard to maintain control. Also people die very easily when your driving. You barely touch them and they die.

Is there any way to switch the grenade throwing button and the reload button around? I want the reload button to be the same as the Gears of War one so I don't get too out of touch with Gears of War.
I haven't really messed with the controls in the demo. I guess if no one has the answer I'll have to try next time I play.

Mine broke this weekend too, it gave me the dreaded red ring of death. Luckily I was able to fix it by removing the cheap thermal paste they used and applying arctic silver instead. The stuff they use seemed dried out. It was a launch unit and I really don't play that much with it. It seems to be running fine now, I played xbox live today for the first time for a few hours (so sweet).
You couldn't return yours if they were bad out of the box gigante? As for what kind of deal ms gives you seems so random and depends on the rep.
I really do wonder what the real defect rate is on these. On kotaku they did a poll and 44% said they had problems. Should I setup a poll here? Not scientific by any means but it might be interesting...

Im thinking of putting my xbox on ebay or craiglist or something and just take the money and invest in a PS3. I'm just waiting on the ps3 iso loader to be released.

That's the only reason I wouldn't want to do it.
The only game I play on it is Halo 2, and I definitely want it for Halo 3.

That's a rumor. Resistance is PS3 exclusive so I guess they do have more than none. SCEA develops a lot of games for its own consoles.

Xbox 360 had a lot of good game and it was next gen technology out before the ps3. It was selling like hotcakes. Don't even compare the two. The 360 did much better and it held its steady ebay price for a lot longer than the ps3.

Well, the format wars won't affect the xbox because they will just put out a blu-ray drive. Sony gambled big time putting blu-ray on the ps3, and while it seems like it's working out for them against HD-DVD for now, they might've given the top console spot to xbox or wii. A ps3 at a similar price to the xbox 360 without a blu-ray drive would've come to the market faster and with less trouble (volume wise). It would've sold at least as well as the xbox did IMO.
In the long run, more ps3 games will come out, the price will come down, and the many ps2 owners will want to upgrade and be able to play their old library of games. We'll see what happens then.

Many of the PS3 versions look worse because they are ported and because the devs aren't comfortable with the PS3 yet. A lot of the early 360 games weren't very optimized either, but now they can make games like GOW.
I think both systems have their technical advantages, and although the XBOX with its larger memory has a good edge, the ps3 also has some tricks up its sleeve... As much as xbox live is a great service and the game lineup is good now, the 360 hardware failures are ridiculous. I guess you have to experience it to feel the wrath.
I have never owned a playstation (except for the PSP) and do not know if I'll ever buy a PS3 (probably not). Just don't want to be a fanboy.

I'm inclined to agree with what michael is trying to say. The 360 may have better graphical power than the PS3 does right now, but because of the reasons hehehe outlined you have to give it a year or so, and a game made directly for the ps3 to really see what it's got.
If we compared PDZ to Resistance, would PDZ really blow Resistance out of the water?
Also wolfeman your pricepoint comparisons of the 360 and PS3 are all wrong. You should compare the 20GB PS3 for $500 with the premium xbox for $400. They both after all have wireless controllers, the same size HDD, and no built in WIFI.
that extra $100 does get you a Blu-Ray player though. When you look at it like that, the PS3 isn't that bad of a deal compared to a 360. The 360 just has cheaper options, better games, better live play IMO.
I don't need a HD-DVD or Blu-Ray player right now, so I'm glad the 360 doesn't make me buy it upfront.
Right now Blu-Ray has the edge on HD-DVD too, in the sales department and in the # of titles availible.

I've owned all of the systems since each came out, camping out for each, and the first titles on 360 play better than the first titles on the ps3. I think anyone would agree. PS3 is VERY slow at rolling out games. Don't get me wrong, i want them to do good. But there are seriously letting me down. I bought mine and gave my freepay one to my brother, but we don't have any real games to play each other except resistance.

... and I disagree with gizmodo kid and the show's host about Internet HD content. Downloadable media isn't going to take over a physical format for several reasons (one reason is bandwidth how long would it take an average internet user to download a 30-40 GB movie in HD compared to a consumer who would go to the store and buy the movie and play it immediately when you get home)..
Also, I myself like to keep my videos permanently stored and archived... With downloadable HD content, it's not possible unless you have a Zune, an iPod or some other media player but that would also mean your content would be DRM'ed and in the end, you don't really own what you bought and the media player has limited capacity, so you would be able to store 1 HD movie or two.
Personally, I think it's way too soon to call since the players are too expensive for average consumers (hell, they don't even sell the players or the media where I live).. Once we see the player's price drop to $200-300 and more selection of movies from both sides, then we might see some sales figures from either side standing out a bit.

crackdown is amazing short but amazing took me about 8 hrs or so to beat but. The best 8 hrs I have spent. Take it from someone that did not like GTA too much. Good game crackdown sure is, infact if your only getting it for the beta that sucks cuz Halo does indeed suck.

It's fun, the plot is dumb, and it's completly senseless, I played it while watching movies when I was sick...and payed more attention to the movies, you can just run around and blow stuff up...I love it )
It was so short though, one of the only games where most of the time I'd rather walk then drive

your not missing much. I dont know why halo became so damn popular its a standard shooter with nothing too exciting. Yeah I can agree with you there about the repetitive levels. Bungie always claims that they've been "rushed" so they threw in the same stuff on the Halo CE campaign.
I think what really brought Halo up was ---
- it was the best game around compared to the other Xbox games at the time
- multiplayer was really fun
- it had a good storyline
- gameplay was really fun for an FPS console game
After this, it kept getting more and more popular for some reason. I personally think the Halo series is awesome but I can totally see where you're coming from.

I think the game is pretty fun but I'm thinking the same as you. I really don't want to drop $60 on this game but at the same time I really do. I returned all of the Christmas presents that I didn't want and somehow it worked out to be $60 in returns so I think I'll justify my purchase with that.
I might just wait a few weeks and get a used copy off of ebay or something though, I guess I'll have to see.

that new 360 isn't really a better deal than a PS3 in my eyes. It doesn't come with the HD-DVD player, or even built in wifi so for $30 more you can have a 20GB ps3 with blu-ray and buy your own HD and add onto it.

Yep, bought it launch day, seriously stopped my entire life to play that game and beat it in a week.
I saw the trailer the minute it was announced back in May '04 and I was seriously so happy. I was a huge Zelda fan and seeing Link like that was just sick as hell.
I was pissed off when Nintendo delayed it so many times though and then had the balls to release it on Wii and delay it another month for GameCube, but whatever.
It was an amazing game, but it honestly didn't have the same effect on me as Windwaker, my first 3D Zelda. Don't get me wrong, from a technical and gameplay standpoint, its the best Zelda ever made. In my personal opinion though, Windwaker is the greatest.
