No? It depends on the phone. If the phone is Bluetooth enabled, great, it's going to work with your computer! If it doesn't, well, you're SOL. It has nothing to do with the service provider. ;)
what I would do is get the model number of your phone and search google with "model number mp3" or similar terms. this is how i figured out i needed a data cable for mine. the cable was cheap

It depends on the fucking phone. Not the carrier. If the phone supports bluetooth for data transfer. GOOD JOB! YOU WIN! YOU CAN NOW TRANSFER DATA! If the phone doesn't support bluetooth for data transfer...well...then...it's not going to work. Different phones are offered by different providers. But the configuration of the phone, is set by the manufacturer of the phone itself.

TFOAF quit embarrassing yourself. I never said that transferring files via bluetooth wasn't possible, its just that you need a work around otherwise its not going to work. Bluetooth OBEX transfer is disabled on Verizon Wireless phones (I know because I had the LG vx8100 and I had to use
BitPim[=http//www.bitpim.org]BitPim to get free ringtones onto my phone) and for the record, that Motorola E815 as well as that LG phone whichever it is both have crippled bluetooth.

Sorry to bump this but...
Good fucking God, it DOSE matter which carrier you have. Verizon blocks bluetooth transfering. Yes you can use bitpim to by pass it (which I do) but they do block it. There are other carriers that block it aswell. Bitpim olny works with CDMA phones so if you have a sim card phone (GMS i think its called?) and your carrier blocks bluetooth transfering your fucked...

I don't think smartphones have any restrictions like normal phones do. Well, I wouldn't think they do at least.
Check
Howard Forums[=http//howardforums.com/]Howard Forums and browse to your provider and then find your phone forum and you should see a sticky there for ringtones.

Okay let me answer this question, I don't mean to brag but seeing as I mod phones, my mom works for AT&T, and I am overall just the smartest guy in the world. Like many have said certain carriers restrict blue tooth data transfers over a certain file size and/or a certain file type. Why? Because they can exploit you over 3rd-party ring tone/image/movie networks so you are pretty much required to purchase from them. To bypass this get a seem editor and its usually in the 32 seem that all the carrier functions are and change the BT restriction bit from 1 to 0. ) FOAFY you are and idiot. The end.

Is that the same as Hex editing? I'm too much of a bitch to go that far into hacking phones although I've heard of the P2K program over on the howard forums and all I know is that its used for modding.
Jams44
11-02-2007 10:46:25
kind of, this is a simpler interface mostly designed for specific phones. sometimes motorola will release one or what not. but seem 32 functions are stable on all phones then the 4A is where it actually goes into phone components. hex editing is manually searching for columns and rows without searching for specific names. this is easy when you yourself want to change some generic stuff but if someone wants to hack in depth they use hex editors.
