How much would it cost?

For a new server for this forum? If everyone gave a little of their earnings to the forum, as well as site owners, money would be flowing. I hate this max connect users BS.

We're looking at options, but for now we aren't doing anything until the datacenter move, which will probably help somewhat. After that is done, we will re-assess the situation. It also depends on how long we continue with this influx of new members, and how long they stick around after joining.

Dedicated servers are too expensive, you're talking $100-$250 per month. I honestly don't think FiPG can sustain enough donations from month to month to keep Tyler from having to pay most of that out of his pocket.

VPS hosting is the next best thing, not very expensive, and what I'm most interested in, but our current host (which we're very happy with and not anxious to leave) doesn't currently offer VPS packages.

An upgrade to our shared hosting plan will only get us more drive space or bandwidth, which won't help with our database connection limit, which comes from a pool shared across the whole box. When I had our limit set to 40, it was impacting other sites on the host so I had to back it down to 25 to keep us from getting kicked off.

Alright - well whenever everything is ironed out, list the options and the amount.

I would be more than willing to piece off my freebie earnings with a site that makes it possible. Especially with no ads floating around.

i think a monthly subscription pack for supporters would be a good idea, it would ensure the money for an extended hosting package.

I would be interested in sponsoring the site for about 5-10$ month.

If we got 10 members paying $10 a month we could do it.

Pay per post is dumb, becauase I don't know many people who would do that. I think that maybe not requiring, but asking that for every couple successful trades you could donate 5-10 dollars, enough trades go on monthly to sustain the server costs, no?

But yea, Let us know the options financially when you have the info, because I'm sure a lot of people would be willing to help.

There are more than 10 regular users here, maybe we set up a rotation, group A pays one month, group B pays the next month, etc. The group would pay whatever admin doesn't pay for by links on the front page.

$10 a month gets you a custom title and rank, the ability to create trade threads once per day and BUMP every 12 hours, and the warm fuzzy feeling of knowing you're paying more than those cheap $5 bastards and you're helping to keep the forum running.

$15 a month gets you a custom title and rank, the ability to create trade threads once per day and BUMP every 6 hours, the ability to spam your ref links on the forum, request certain members to be banned, and the warm fuzzy feeling of knowing you have more money that the other donators, can influence Staff decisions and annoy the shit out of the other members by sending them your ref links.

Is there any reason this can't be done? Replace freepay with trainn links or somethin..do ppl still go for freepay after that whole time limit thing and faxing in crap, etc? Besides, I see the next availabe date for all the links as Feb.6, With the amount of people that come here I figured it would be full for the next 10 months at least.

I'm sure I'm missing something here..but why can't trainn links be put up instead?

We have two people who can make the necessary changes for this to be possible. Both have personal lives which take up most of their time and we have a lot of changes on the way, most importantly the server change, but once that is done and dusted, then we can begin implementing everything we have in mind, which includes this feature.
