F%$# YES! My rock radio station just announced Tool is going to be playing here on March 27th! Tickets go on sale next Sunday, but of course they'll be giving away tickets before then. Anyone else know their tour dates?

I can't wait at all for this. I think I'm going to listen to Tool until then wink

To protect your ears.

mnx12

27-01-2007 14:20:36

Why? The whole point of going to a show is to hear the music

tylerc

27-01-2007 14:54:04

The point of ears is to hear, and having floor seats at a Tool concert is going to damage your ears severely if you don't use plugs.

mnx12

27-01-2007 14:58:48

Ive been to many many shows, and my ears are doing great

Wait until you get older.

mnx12

27-01-2007 15:30:59

Everyones hearing goes out when they get older. Thats like saying, "wash your hair or it will fall out when your 50"

EDIT Anyways, we are getting way off topic. I think we should keep this to Tool. I personally think they are way overrated...

tylerc

27-01-2007 15:31:49

Except it's been proven that prolonged exposure to over a certain decible amount damages the ears irreparably.

Wow you really don't know what you're talking about.

Your inner ear has tiny little hairs. If you hear really loud sounds often or are exposed to a long exposure of loud sounds, it'll damage your tiny hairs permanently. They cannot be repaired.

Of course I know that, and guess what, after going to all these loud concerts, according to my doctor, I have better than normal hearing...

J4320

"Everyones hearing goes out when they get older. Thats like saying, 'wash your hair or it will fall out when your 50'"

According to that statement of yours, you don't know much about hearing.

mnx12

27-01-2007 17:38:24

Well I do, though. I think it's cool that you want to protect your ears, normally I would, too. Just not at concerts....it's all good, let's not get too off topic, we can all get along.

Dave82

27-01-2007 18:33:01

SO, UM..... WHAT IS EVERYONE'S FAVORITE TOOL SONG??
H

But no, seriously, the ear plugs will not completely block out the sound, you will be able to hear the music. It just offers some protection. Believe me, you still be able to hear Tool blasting.

If you notice, the people on stage usually wear ear protection. Granted they have more exposure to loud music than you, it should still tell you something.

I think if you dont agree, just buy earplugs and take them with you. You might find that you want to use them. And if not, I swear you will be able to sell them for three times the value at a Tool concert. In fact go to Walgreens and buy a bunch and sell them at the concert.

Also, the damage to your ears wont show immediately. You cannot "undo" the damage either. I dont think the cilia or whatever they are called can regenerate. Tell your doctor that you go to loud rock concerts frequently, and see what he/she says. I guarentee they will mention something to you about protecting your ears.

Hearing aids will only help with volume when you get older. If you develop a ringing, buzzing, or even tinitus, then there is basically nothing for you. So it is important to protect your ears.

One of my friends goes to a lot of concerts and never wears earplugs. He actually said that after he saw Metallica, his ears were ringing for [b2a10587446]4 days straight[/b2a10587446]. But anyway, I noticed he has trouble hearing if someone is speaking in a quieter voice. It is annoying because he is always saying, "what?" and we are constantly repeating ourselves to him. You dont want that to be you right?

J4320

27-01-2007 19:06:32

Hmmmm...

My favorite Tool song would probably be Eulogy.

"Will you? Will you now? Would you die for me?"

I think you know the next part. P

Stinkfist-"But how can this mean anything to me, if I don't feel anything at all?"

Forty Six & 2 is great too-"I've been crawling on my belly, clearing out what could have been. I've been wallowing in my own chaotic, and insecure delusions.

they just played here in reno and it sucked. Last time they played here, it was a kick ass show. They played songs no one knows except maybe the really die hard tool freaks. The set was short and long breaks between songs. But it was tool...

That's so awesome you get to see them tonight!!! I'm super jealous. I'm seeing them in July (was supposed to see them in April but Danny Carey and his arm..)

I saw them in October and it was like a religious experience. I cried. I'm such a dork for Tool. )

Just got back D Maynard wore his usual cowboy hat and jeans. I'll try to post the song list as best I can

Jambi
46 & 2
Stinkfist
Mantra
Schism
Rosetta Stoned
Wings for Marie
10,000 Days
Right in Two
Aenema
Lateralus
Vicarious

That's probably not the [i6cc5a2bd0b]exact[/i6cc5a2bd0b] order, but it's the best I can remember. (There was a lot of moshing and pot to fog my memory wink)
They even played a NiN Year Zero song -- The Good Soldier -- before the show )

ldybug1752

tylerc

04-07-2007 18:34:35

I saw them the day after I almost got arrested with my dad. We were on the floor, about 4 rows of people back, but it just got too insane and we got pushed back a few rows.

Setlist
Jambi
Stinkfist (extended)
Forty Six & 2
Schism (extended)
Roseta Stoned
Flood
Wings 1 & 2
Lateralus
Vicarious

Not as good as the Detroit show from September 06, but still a solid show.
