I got a bunch of textbooks I gotta get rid of. which is the better option....
ebay or half?

I never bought or sold anything on half so I don't know what the process is. I just listed a book there, seems relatively easy and quick. Do the buyer pay using CC?? Is there a Final vaule fee like ebay? It seems u could list for free.

I don't think thats a well known site, I rather stick to ebay/half cause of my FB. Don't want to be a noob selling my expansive textbooks.

Half.com is the main site for buying and selling textbooks, but if you are selling college textbooks wouldn't it be easier to sell the books at your school's bookstore. Simply ask people whether they want your book or not.

I sold 6 textbooks in a day on Half. The commissions are high, but I think its the best place to sell your old books.

I dont mean selling the books to the bookstore itself, i meant selling the books to students in the bookstore, that is what i have always done. The students will buy it for $5 less than the bookstore price. This usually only works during the first week of the semester or quarter.

If a textbook was in like new shape, I'd occasionally get full (list price) store credit at another B&N or Borders. Doesn't help if you want cash, though.

wow the commissions are awfully high on half. 12-15% pre book shock

That is around ebay after paypal fees and ebay fees. It goes directly to your bank account.

yea...I guess ur right. I don't quite get the shipping though. Its not included in the commission right? And if a buyer choose expedited shipping, do I ship using parcel post since its faster than media mail?

last time I checked ebay fees were about 3% and paypal fees were 2.9%. Half.com rips you off big time!

Although I did sell a book for a class I decided not to take. I listed it just under the lowest price and it sold within hours.

Try http//www.directtextbook.com/

I just sold a book within the first hour. $45 with 2.78 shipping, commission is 6.75 totaling $41 final price. Not that bad compare to ebay.

The buyer happens to have zero feedback and " No longer a registered user". Should I go though with the transaction and ship the book? Will he screw me through half?

[b8b04a11820]i personally have never looked on ebay for a textbook though. [/b8b04a11820] So I am inclined to believe inspite the half.com commission fee, you will atill make more than you would selling it on ebay.

I use http//www.directtextbook.com/

[b8b04a11820]But not Ebay...[/b8b04a11820]

You guys honestly check ebay for your books?

And like the others said, DO NOT SELL BACK TO THE BOOKSTORE, that is the lowest return. Better off using the pages as toilet paper than selling it back to them.

someone beat me to it put flyers up on campus. Best way because they need it and you dont pay shipping. Even if it is an older editiond student will still buy it. I buy older editions of text books all the time.

GCY

flyers are a pretty good idea. I already listed them on half.com so I'll give it a week or so and see if they sell. So far 2 books are already gone within the first 2 hours!!
Both happens to have zero feedback. 1 a noob, the other no longer a registered member on ebay.
should I be worry about this at all??
