Does anyone have any good recommendations? I have no idea why but I just really feel like seeing a really scary movie involving aliens. Muchos karma to whoever gives the winning recommendation. )

liEDITli

Actually just list out any scary movies that you've seen lately since I can't find any scary alien movies I want to see. So any scary movies that have actually scared you will do. I'm kind of looking for something that isn't a demonic horror film though.

I would have bumped this thread earlier - http//forum.freeipodguide.com/viewtopic.php?t=47424&highlight=scary+movies

- but I kept getting an error when I tried to search. Oh well.

Um....Alien? ;)

Aliens was less scary, but more fun. The Thing is positively creepy too.

Horror scary or psychologically scary?

Hmmm well I've seen the Alien movies a long time ago when I was younger and they didn't really scare me. I'll consider getting The Thing though. I'll go look it up.

[quote7a3087eaf2="KeithA"]Horror scary or psychologically scary?[/quote7a3087eaf2]

Hmmm probably psychologically scary where the aliens are advanced and there's a lot of mystery about them. I don't want to see one like Alien where it's a crazy beast that isn't as smart as you. So I guess it could be horror if it's about being abducted or something.

I'm looking for maybe something along the lines of this -

Oh and Jkirk, I'll look up Mars Attacks.

The Thing is out. I don't really feel like watching an 80's movie. Not that 80's movies are bad but... I don't really feel like watching one.

Sorry. I forgot you were 96. ;)

I saw Alien as a kid, and had nightmares for weeks after. Even now, having seen it so many times, I don't feel [ie03ffb5524]that[/ie03ffb5524] desensitized to it. If you are, then you'll be hard to please. ;)

The Thing surpasses Alien in some ways. It's far more frightening a threat.

Mars Attacks [ie03ffb5524]is[/ie03ffb5524] surprisingly scary. The fact the film is a black comedy rather than one or the other, was what I think killed it at the box office.

I think you might like Signs though. It has the suspense and tension I think you're looking for, plus it's more recent.

LOL. Picky, picky....it's really good, but again, Signs might be for you.

I am pretty picky. I thought there were more good alien movies out there than I thought but I guess there aren't too many (or I'm just WAY too picky).

Anyway, I've seen Signs and I thought it was okay. I didn't get very scared from it though. Maybe I'm too desensitized to this type of stuff. |

Well, I give up. )

There's plenty of recent stuff, but a lot of it can't hold a torch compared to some of what I mentioned (IMO). You sound like you might just want a zombie flick. They can be good for a scare, but I like some substance too.

can you recommend any psychologically scary movies? Because everyone i see doesnt really scare me. Can anyone list any movies that actually scared them? Even if it was just a little or a few parts. I am trying to find a movie that actually scares me.

I've been thinking about it since I asked the question. Most of the movies that come to mind are more unsettling than scary, I think; I've never been a huge fan of "scary" movies.

The Game was a good psychological thriller, albeit not at all related to aliens.

Donnie Darko is pretty good too...

I think the Exorcist is the scariest movie I have ever seen. Other horror just really isn't that scary at all. Although it is my favorite genre.

If you haven't seen The Descent, you should check that movie out. I thought it was really creepy because they were basically trapped in a cave that was deep underground. There were monsters in the movie, they weren't scary though.

"The Descent" scared the shit out of me. It is one of the greatest horror/thrillers I have ever seen. You gotta watch it. I'm getting a 50" plasma very soon and see they have the movie in BluRay and am hoping I can score a PS3 just to play it.

Anyway, I watched it on my PC one late night when everyone else was sleeping. All the lights were off and I had my earbuds in so all outside noises were isolated... and my face was only a couple of feet from the monitor... so I couldn't stop gripping my seat.

The movie has been available in the UK for a while but was just released in America a couple of months ago, if I remember correctly.

WATCH IT!

Yeah I've seen it. It's not scary at all. It was entertaining though. I'll take a look at The Descent too. I've seen the previews but I haven't seen it yet.

I'm still leaning towards 28 Days Later though. Has anyone seen that?

The Excorcist (Unedited version)
The Haunting (Black and White version)
28 Days Later
Suspiria
Opera
Evil Dead
Night of the Living Dead (Original)
Dawn of the Dead (Original)
Helter Skelter

and a must see

Audition (Uncut) This movie is just plain creepy.

I couldnt sleep after watching it, then again I have a huge fear of Zombies anyway. You should see me play any Resident Evil game I scream and run and flail around like a little girl. It was better for RE4 because they were just humans with octopii in their heads, lol.

audition was really creepy. It wasn't your typical horror movie, in fact after watching 30 minutes or so of it we paused to check that we had rented the right movie.

anyways the buildup was well worth the creep out towards the end.

I have hated many of the recent teen gore horror movies that have been released. The Grudge was terrible, so was 13 Ghosts, I could go on and on... I rented Descent from Netflix and also Snakes on a Plane, I will watch them when the football game is over. liugh

Well I just watched 28 Days Later and there is no way it is the most frightening film since the The Exorcist. The only part that caught me off guard was a part where a car alarm went off in the beginning of the movie. I was actually kind of bored watching it.

I was wondering when the action would ever pick up and it never really got intense to me.

I think i'll check it out next weekend. http//i113.photobucket.com/albums/n214/Dave1982p/j4.gif[" alt=""/imgec9f17a855]

edit i just saw your post above a little late (thanks to 'bosbos'), so looks like 28days isnt scary.

the exorcist (both original and remake) did not scare or creep me out even. My mom said when that movie first came out, people were running out of the theaters throwing up.

Alien and zombie movies dont creep me out. Movies like The Ring for example are what i am looking for (that movie didnt scare me, just using it as an example).

Yeah 28 Days Later is not what I expected. I thought it'd have WAY more surprises where you jump out of your seat but nothing had that effect on me. I don't understand how the reviews on it are so good.

Without spoiling it, here's kind of what happens (I won't spoil the ending or anything) -

- He wakes up in the hospital
- He finds a family
- They go to an army base
- The rest of the movie is centered around problems in the army base
- It's over

Spoiler -

[spoiler911f7886b6]The army guys want to rape the women that the main character brings along but he objects so they try to kill him but he gets away. He saves the women in the end and they get away. The infected people starve to death and everyone is okay.[/spoiler911f7886b6]

I thought there'd be zombies running around everywhere like crazy and there'd be tons of violence and scary scenes but it didn't happen. I kept wondering when they'd go back to the city or something but they never did and the movie started to climax in the army base and I started to get really disappointed. On the back of the DVD case they have a quote from some critic saying that it's the scariest movie since The Exorcist. There is NO way... just no way.

I have no interest in zombie movies. Not one bit.

28 Days Later (which [ieccead8fd6]technically[/ieccead8fd6], by zombie enthusiasts, isn't a zombie movie), was "ok" for the fact that there was something to suspend my disbelief (the virus), but most zombie movies cross too far into the supernatural. If I want to watch a horror film, I'd go for something involving some traditional supernatural beings. (satan, warlocks, demons, vampires etc)

To me, zombies are laughable. You can create a scary film around them, but they, themselves, are just actors dusted with baby powder. ;)
