I'm filling out this financial aid crap for college. Do I have to declare ALL of my freebie income, or just the amount I earned in which I sent in W9s for?

Thanks,
Craig

do report using your parents 2005 taxes or 2006 taxes (b/c those arent done yet and they have received forms yet?)

let's see, if I had a question about a government form, where would I go for an answer? hmm, oh ok, the government website http//www.fafsa.ed.gov/

[quotede88a38b47] li Your Social Security Number (can be found on Social Security card)
li Your driver's license (if any)
li Your 2006 W-2 Forms and other records of money earned
li Your (and your spouse's, if you are married) 2006 Federal Income Tax Return - IRS Form 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, foreign tax return, or tax return for Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia or Palau
li Your parents' 2006 Federal Income Tax Return (if you are a dependent student)
li Your 2006 untaxed income records - Social Security, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, welfare, or veterans benefits records
li Your most recent bank statements
li Your most recent business and investment mortgage information, business and farm records, stock, bond, and other investment records
li Your alien registration number or permanent residence card (if you are not a U.S. citizen)

exactly, do u have 2007 tax returns??? NO so u use last years....For more info ask your college counselor/ financial aid offices and or visit the fafsa site. You will get the most accurate answer and help.

Yeah, but we submit our tax crap within the time frame of next month, so the government knows our tax information and what we owe.

2007 just began, so u cant file for it. You always file for the past year taxes...that how taxes are done.

Yeah, why would you think you use anything other than your 2006 taxes? Once you get the forms, go ahead and use them to fill out your FAFSA.

You obviously wouldn't use your 2005 taxes, and you obviously can't wait until NEXT January, so you could use 2007 taxes.

It's really not that difficult. I'm worried for you.. college requires more self-help skills than filling out a simple form.

You guys don't seem to understand. Some schools are turds and want it in by the 7th of january and there is no way in hell 2006 taxes can be done by then. So I simply used 2005 and estimated. When the 2006 are in you just send them in the w-2's and an updated fafsa. That's what most schools told me that wanted it so early. The others want it in February and that can be easily done.

They wanted the CSS profile December 1st too. Yeah, I didn't see that coming. In fact, I just found out about that deadline today. ( I will call the school, and see if I can still file it.

Sorry to revive the thread but I need help. We used 2005 taxes for the css profile because we did not have the 2006 ones in at the time. This was back in November, because this was one of my school's deadline. It now says I cannot amend the profile.

Application Response

Below is the data you entered on your PROFILE Registration and Application. Your answer appears opposite the question name and number. If the information below is correct, take no action except to print a copy for your records. (You may need to set your print properties to landscape to view all data.) If any of your information has changed significantly, it is not possible to make changes or to add to your online application now that it has been submitted. Print a copy of this acknowledgement, cross out the incorrect information and write the correct information in the same box. Explain changes on the bottom of the last page or attach pages as necessary. Next, photocopy this document and send copies to your colleges and programs

From what I see no big changes. Only small change is my parents made about $5,000 more this year. That is it. What should I do? The deadline is the 1st of February. Would it be ok if I leave things the way they are? If someone has AIM and knows about this stuff please aim me.

My aim is jaytis2kewl4u.

I really need some help.
