I hadn't heard of it til now, but it looks amazing. All the scenery seems to be completely taken out of the Gladiator.....especially the one in the wheat field.

I saw the preview during Saw III and have been pumped, especially because at the time we were studying all the events leading up to that and the actual battle in Ancient History. My buddy went to the movie theater to try and get tickets for it back in October, the guy looked at him like he had 12 heads and told him they couldn't do that lol

I'll reserve my final judgment until I see it, but it has a very stylized look to it, that's reminiscent of Sin City. That could kill it at the box office. That, and the Gladiator "homages". ;)

I've already seen this movie in an advanced screening about two weeks ago. Got to meet Zach Snyder also which was cool. He did the Dawn of the Dead remake a couple years ago with Ving Raimes.
The movie is pretty incredible. It is done the same way that Sin City was done with the actors working in front of green screen. The battle scenes in the movie are very cool with lots of gore and whatnot. Super entertaining popcorn flick that is almost surreal on the screen. (Seeing it on IMAX again on Thursday night at Midnight)
Two things I didn't like are some of the cheezy dialogue scenes. There is a lot of yelling but then again, these were soldiers so it might make sense. And they do refer to Sparta quite a bit. Secondly, a lot of slow motion scenes just like the trailer kinda alludes to. Sometimes, it feels like a music video in that regard and also makes the movie about twenty minutes longer because of it.
Two fairly minor qualms though because all-in-all, the movie is fantastic. I truly feel that this movie will be somewhat timeless because of the way it was done. Nobody has ever done a film exactly like this and I guarantee it will be duplicated again with the vibrant colors and characters. Hope this helps you people decide to go see it now.

Saw it last night, it was a fantastic movie. I mean the violence was awesome and the Spartans were just a badass group. I didn't have any prehype or any preknowledge about anything involved in the movie so this is kind of like from a noob's standpoint. I thought the violence was well done and I didn't mind how it was a "Sin City" type of movie that was made with green screens. Yeah, it would have been better if it was a regular movie like Gladiator but I didn't mind it much. The only thing I didn't like about it was that there was something about the story I didn't like. I can't put my finger on it exactly but it's kept me thinking about it for about 24 hours now and I might go see it again tonight. lol

The reason it was done like Sin City is because it was based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller, the same guy who wrote the Sin City graphic novels.

DH and I went last weekend with his parents to see that. Like GodRock said, could have done without the blatant nudity. But overall, a wonderful film. I was constantly reminded of God of War (SPARTAN!). lol
We saw it at the Rave theater in Fort Wayne, IN. It's an AWESOME theater!!! So far, the best I've ever been to.

Plenty of leg room, stadium seating, seat backs that go all the way up, the arms can move so you don't have to have a cup holder in between you and your date...and the screen is HUGE! I think twice the height of any in Lafayette.

Holy shit! I just had to bump this topic. I'm currently listening to The Fragile by NiN and was listening to the song "Just Like You Imagined" and realized that it's the music for the 300 trailer! Fucken awesum! I didn't even realize it could be NiN watching the trailer. That was crazy D Trent kicks azz!!11

The ones in Colorado were like that. Here where I live now, they are like old renovated buildings and everything in them is old and nasty. I don't even like going to the theatres here so I'll drive for like 35-40 minutes to Vancouver (city across the river from Portland, OR) just to enjoy it there.

I had to watch this movie because sin city was so graphically awesome, and man I thought this movie was even better. Fight scenes from hell, and great acting...four stars!
