Does anyone here bowl?

I've recently started bowling all the time, and spending way to much money on it. It's fun as shit though, especially if you are serious about it, but even if you're not, it's fun as shit......lol.


Anyway, what are you peoples average? I'm 17 and my high is 203, no idea my average but it's got to be somewhere in the 170's. Just wondering how that compares to most people.....

Also, does anyone have their own ball or shoes? I just bought some shoes [=http//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290064781897]shoes off eBay

When I go bowling, my average is usually around a 75...haha yeah i suck

i bowled a 264 once on atari bowling....but that was where i could control the ball.

I used to when I was younger. Was in YABA leagues from ages 8-17. My last season on a league my average was 190. High game was 269. High series was close to 700. I should have stuck with it. Amleto Monacellli was my favorite bowler. )

Wii bowling

I took a bowling class in college and I still have shoes and a ball, 12lb. My average at the end of the semester was 91, but considering I started with a 30 something average, I improved, a LOT. I think

I could have done better had I not injured my wrist. The muscle that goes from the thumb to the elbow swelled up on me due to repetition (I was taking a drawing class the same semester and the motion of shading with pencil did damage to that muscle) and even with a wrist brace, my wrist was weak.

But, I still suck, lol. My high game was 145, with handicap, I was at 200something. Got an A in the class though. )

Never been, but always wanted to, though. Same with paintball. Just no time/money.

When I was younger (like ten or eleven), I was incredible at bowling. I didn't realize how good I was until much later. I would bowl once or twice a month and get mid-200s (no bumper, of course). I don't know what's a "big ball" vs. a "small ball," though—I used an 8 lbs. ball, so maybe that's a bit of a handicap?

Then at 12 I broke my finger and stopped playing for a few years, and when I tried a couple years ago I bowled somewhere in the low 100s.

do you put spin on the ball or just bowl it straight? I've bowled around a 200, not for sure, average is probablly around 150-160, I havn't bowled much lately but used to go once or twice a month... fun stuff!

If you don't spin the ball, you definatelly need to learn to do that, much more consistant that way... i use a 14-16lb ball depending on what point in my game it is... or where the pins are...

i used to roll a 180 average consistently, then I took a summer off, and then progressively got worse. I used to bowl 3-4 times a week too. I guess I just suck.

My all time high is a 220 in a league match.

You can only bowl well consistently if you can get some hook on it. You don't spin the ball at all. You rotate it. If you spin it on a tight axis, you won't get any hook (a habit I've gotten into) if you roll it on a wider axis, you get more hook. You wanna hit that pocket...right in between the head pin and the 2 or 3 (depending on if you're right or left handed) and you want power "no drive, no 5 (pin)" is the saying.

And wii bowling is close to the real deal. If the wiimote was 16 lbs, it'd be identical (almost). Even the fact that if you hit that pocket right you're gonna get a strike.

Also, throwing a straight ball is good for picking spares. "Strikes are for show, spares are for dough" It's true, and anyone who picks all his spares is much more respected than a bowler who can bowl a perfect game.

I just got back from an hour of bowling myself. I rolled 11 games, but only 10 counted because after the 10th it blinked saying I had 5 minutes so I just dicked around and bowled only the 6 and 8 pounder, but ended with 112 lol.

My average was 157 with 36 spares and 28 strikes in 10 games.

High = 193 (I got fucked by one inch on the last frame from breaking 200)
Low = 138

I used to be in a bowling league. My average was around 170, my high game was 267.

I own a Columbia 500 Extreme Chaos ball, 14 lbs. Titanium Core, and it hooks quite a bit. Nice ball.

Yeah that's insane. You've never bowled, Tholek? Wow. Personally I don't like bowling [i2fc76c3971]that[/i2fc76c3971] much but I've bowled a lot due to social outings, school events, birthdays, and etc.

Next time you are with friends thinking of what to do.. go bowling. You don't have to be good at it to have fun. Bowling alleys are open pretty late, too.

Am I right though, Maybe it's just in my area or somthing but it seems everytime I went bowling it was full of white trash and a bunch of wiggers so I just kinda blow it off.

If your going to a brunswick alley, go to bonuszone.com. They give you a free hour of bowl. I just keep printing them off, so i never pay for bowling.

Odd, I've never seen a bowling alley like that. Maybe you're just too judgmental of the people around you? shrug

I think my high was around 200, but I have no real bowling technique. I just take the heaviest ball there is and hurl it at the middle. Works for me D

I go to Yerba Buena a bunch since I live in the city. Usually go with friends because it's less embarrasing to bowl a 120 or so when everyone else is barely breaking a hundred too. Never understood how the people on TV put spin on it so I'm just a straight bowler, I guess. Bowling just seems more like a social event to me than a sport though I understand that it requires a ton of skill (Which is why I suck at it lol )

It's impossible to hook the ball like the pros do with the balls the alley provides (unless you take the ball in the palm of your hand and turn your wrist like 180) because they are solid plastic. The professional balls have different cores and are balanced so when thrown, it hooks.

This statement is 100% false, for many reasons. The main of which is that all alleys have different balls. I'm sure there's quite a few alleys that have balls which can be spun like the "pros". I know, they aren't as good as like weighted custom $200 balls, but you can still get the same hook effect if you go to the same alley and always use the same ball/weight.

I haven't bowled much since I was a kid... I think my high score was 360-370ish or so. That's 5-pin, not 10. I've only bowled maybe a dozen games of 10-pin, but I find it's not really that much different save for the fact it's a lot harder to completely miss hitting anything. I've only got low 200's for a high in that though.
