CNN expects to receive still and video images of the execution soon. They'll review the footage first, but they emphasized that "if" they decided to run it it would be preceded by a firm disclaimer.
Not only will this air on youtube soon, it looks like it will be broadcast by the mainstream media.

Luckily you're probably wrong. Saddam, although maintained an Islamic state in Iraq, was a more secular leader (note he was really one of the first mid-east leaders to wear a western business suit almost all the time in the public).
Critics of Bush say that the fundamental islamic extremists actually didn't care for Saddam, and saw him as a creation of the US. Although I sort of support Bush, I have to agree with this somewhat.
I really think that maybe the backlash of this will be an increase in Saddam's party's related terrorist attacks on troops (that's the baath party, right?) But that will stop within a 60 day period.
This is a milestone, and yes it's significant, but it's not going to be a horrible horrible thing. I goto Europe on 1/2/07, and I'm not too concerned. I'll be cautious, but I don't think that civilians have much to worry about.

The ONLY video of it shows him walking up to the trap door, putting the noose and hood on his neck, and then it freezes. Later, it shows him dead in a white shroud. No actual video of the death.

Yep, that's the whole thing, but very poor quality. Looks like a camera phone took it, so you can't really make out much detail. But you do see him drop and then afterwards. The guy with the camera was making me sick with his waving it around all over though.

Can't say I am to sad to see him go. What the hell is wrong with people, don't video tape someones death. I find that morally wrong no matter how bad the person is.
