I'm a newb when it comes to taking photographs, and I'd like some feedback so I can improve. My $300 cameras were going to waste (I didn't use them much other than for eBay), and I decided to take some photos during break. TSJ's portfolio of landscape photos really inspired me.

I like them all, but you do want feedback, IMO I think the 2nd to last one looks a little dingy oops

Yea, I got more. I'll upload them on my Flickr[=http//flickr.com/photos/11998923@N00/]Flickr page sometime soon.

BTW, does anyone think I should get the Flickr Pro Account? I feel really limited with only 3 sets.

Or is there another paid service that offers better features?

I'd use deviantART, it's free and there' a huge community at your fingertips willing to critique your work. I've been out of the photography loop for nearly a year and have hardly picked up my camera to take some serious pictures, but I'd love tog et into it again. CG runs a photography contest on DA, ask him about it if you're interested.

Personally, when I take a picture and it has too many distracting elements or colours, I change it to Greyscale so as to remove any distractions. Your first picture is really good, but I was distracted by the red object above the mans head, the colour of his shirt and shoes, the person the right of the picture (blurred) so I changed it a little. I also cropped it at the top slightly because there was a bit of space up there compared to the bottom, I hope you don't mind

Also, for a picture like that, I would've panned the camera more to the left and had more of the wall on the left which would cut the people on the right out of the picture and have the two central figures on the far right of the image, but that's just me.

I'm no photography genius and to be honest, there's no right or wrong way, only personal preference.

What kind of camera(s) are you using? You used the plural and if you're thinking of getting into some serious picture taking, I'd recommend selling the Point and Shoot cameras you have currently and buying a low-end DSLR. I think you can get the Canon Digital Rebel XT for around $600-$700. It's a big jump up, but well worth it and you're limitations on what you can and can't do are all but gone, leaving your creation free to run wild. D

I'd lose the filters on photos like this. If you want the same effect but more professional and nice, you'd have to invest on a lense that gives you that type of focus and blur.

The rest are pretty nice, actually. I'd mess with the levels on some, especially the flower. So far, you seem to have a decent eye for keeping images leveled, decently composed, and are aware of the angles there are.

Pretty decent for a starter.

Wow, the picture looks better in black and white & I like how you cut out the sky. Thanks TSJ =D.

I've used a Sony DSC-W1 and Canon Powershot SD400 for my shots. I'm hoping to get more experience, maybe take some classes, and move up to a DSLR. Right now, I'm reading about DSLR's and all the info seems overwhemling with all these different lenses and stuff.

I love the second one. Makes me want to invest in a nice camera. But, with a baby boy on the way, my 3.2 megapixel sony cybershot will have to work
