That makes sense that they could do that. Wow, i never thought of that. See how the criminal mind works!
So i guess order your giftcards online or over the phone.
The store gift cards usually have a window for the barcode on the back so the cashier can scan it, but the numbers are covered up. You need the card present to use it in the store, so obviously they are going online to ___.com and using the gift card there. It's trackable where the merchandise was shipped to, but the cards say "not responsible for lost or stolen cards."
I havent read the whole thing yet, but Good article with valid points. THANKS for sharing this!!
Edit
Actually, no reading this, it isnt too much of a thread. Just check if the scratch off over the pin is disturbed.
But i bought a Home Depot gift card for my friend for xmas and there are no pins for those cards. So i guess in theory i should have ordered it online.
HAHA, reminds me of this ebay auction where the man/woman put the gift card number in the auction "as proof of the balance." i remember reading if and i send the seller a message. I called to check the balance and it happened to be okay. People are so stupid. lol

Yeah I've heard of that trick before. After I heard of it, I decided to be a little more careful when buying a gift card. This is a very clever little scam.

Never thought of this scam when looking that those gift cards on the rack in stores. I guess from now on, always check if the PIN was scratched off. These ppl. probably target those stores that [ifc10edbddb]don't[/ifc10edbddb] have an extra PIN covered.

If people could use their fantastically intelligent minds to do something good for the world and not try to rip it off, imagine what we could accomplish!!!!
