Yes, I've seen the film many times -- it's one of my all-time favorites. I remember the plant you're talking about, I'm just not a plant person so I have no idea what it was.

This movie was badass they really need to make a number 2...."Although I thought it was wierd with the kid/sexual part in it but owell" This movie is still badass.

The potted plant Leon nurtures, and which Matilda replants at the end of the movie, is an aglaonema, pronounced "ag-leon-ema".

Rumor has it Luc Besson and Natalie Portman have signed on for the sequal, to be named "Mathilda." I will definitely see it. Imagine Natalie Portman going "La Femme Nikita" (another of Besson's creations) on everybody. )

Also, the Euro/International version contains even more sexual overtones between Leon and Mathilda, but it (and some additional action where Mathilda takes more active roles in some hits) was cut from the US version, as it was considered a bit too extreme. I believe it was around 23 minutes or so of footage cut from the US release. If you buy the 2-disc Deluxe edition, it includes the International release.

I love Leon, definitely one of my favourites. Watched it many-a-time.

Why do films/shows/books etc have their names changed to sound more dangerous when they come over here from another country?

This was called Leon all over the world, but "The Professional" over here. The first Harry Potter book is actually "The Philosophers Stone", but in this country, it's "Sorcerers Stone", "Junkyard Wars" is actually "Scrapheap Challenge" in the U.K before it came over here. There are more but I can't remember them. shrug
