I'm gonna start a random thread for once.

You know those riddle games like "What's behind the Green Glass Door", "Bang bang, you're dead", "Around the world", etc.?

They all revolve around finding a pattern and such like

Green Glass Door

Harry Potter is behind the green glass door, but Ron Weasely isn't
Spells are behind the green glass door but magic isn't
etc.

And you're supposed to figure out the pattern?

Or like

Around the World

We go around in a circle saying asking where we can go and there's a pattern for it like,

I can go to Argentina, then the person next to me can go to Brazil, etc. and you're supposed to find the pattern to it.

Well, anyone know of a site where I can find these?

Google and Wikipedia don't help beyond "green glass door".

I'm trying to find this numbers game that was something like "seven is seven, eight is four, etc."

Here's a riddle, (a little off topic)...

You have two coins that equal 30 cents. One of them isn't a nickel. What are the two coins?

TTGP why don't you get off your period? No need for name calling, and use a spoiler tag. It's not like he made it up, seriously. Chill.

A spoiler tag for a riddle that, like you said, he did not make up? Lemme fix it for you. And no, I am not on my period. Foafy took no offense to it.

True, but it took me a few minutes, and was glad I figured it out on my own. I'm on my period, so I thought maybe others were too, sorry oops

[spoiler03b84cbfa8]lost?[/spoiler03b84cbfa8]

3 men go into a motel. The man behind the desk said the room is US$30, so each man paid US$10 and went to their room.

A while later the man behind the desk realized the room was only US$25, so he sent the bellboy to the 3 guys' room with US$5. On the way, the bellboy couldn't figure out how to split US$5 evenly between 3 men, so he decides to give each man US$1 and kept the other US$2 for himself.

This meant that the 3 men each paid US$9 for the room, which is a total of US$27. Add the US$2 that the bellboy kept brings the total to US$29.

Where is the other dollar!?

[spoilere8c0e82737] I don't get yours, it is only supposed to cost $27. They paid $8.33 a piece for the room and doorman kept $2. 8.33X3 +2 + 3 = 30.[/spoilere8c0e82737]

I think I got it! D

[quote4f6672d049]This meant that the 3 men each paid US$9 for the room, which is a total of US$27. Add the US$2 that the bellboy kept brings the total to US$29.[/quote4f6672d049]
[spoiler4f6672d049]
You don't add the $2 that the bellboy kept, you subtract it. You get $25, which is what the room is suppose to cost. Then you just add on the $2 for the bellboy and the $3 for the three men. The quote above tries to confuse you and should be ignored.

So we have --

Guy Behind Desk -- Has $25
Bellboy -- Has $2
Each Man --- $3

$25 + $2 + $3 = $30
[/spoiler4f6672d049]

That's the best I could figure. shrug

Do you know the answer to it?

Yeah I know. That's why I'm trying to find a site with these. I can't find where the "bang bang, you're dead", "around the world", and that numbers game one came from though =/

[spoiler31ce6642f4]Bang Bang You're Dead You "shoot" people with your finger going bang bang, and when you're done you ask "who's dead?" and the first person to make a noise is dead (that's the pattern)

Around the World You start at a place starting with an A, then B, then C, etc. it goes around the alphabet (that's the pattern)

Numbers game (this number) is (this number), etc. and you're supposed to find the pattern (I don't know what it is haha)[/spoiler31ce6642f4]

EDIT Thx omw

I'm actually in the process of putting together a website about riddles & mental puzzles. Mostly trickier stuff. Here are two of my favourites (the first one will take a while, the second one you might get quickly although it took me a while)

1) You have 39 balls, all of which appear identical. One of them, however, is very slightly different in that it is EITHER heavier OR lighter than the others by a tiny amount. You cannot tell the difference just by picking it up, and you do not know if it is heavier or lighter than the others (which are all the same). Using a simple balance scale (one where you can put equal numbers of balls on either side and the scale will tell you which side is heavier) find the odd ball out in 4 weighings, and determine if the odd ball is heavier or lighter than the others.

2) There are 7 prisoners, which are given a chance to free themselves. Each man will have a hat placed upon his head, which he cannot see but which the other 6 men can see. The 7 hats can be any of 7 different colours, for example all the hats could be red, or all could be different colours, or any combination of the 7 possible colours. Each man must write down what he thinks his hat colour is, on a piece of paper. There can be no communication between the men once the hats are placed on their heads, although they can take as much time to plan a strategy beforehand as they like. If at least one of the men writes down the "right" colour (the colour he is wearing) then all 7 prisoners will be released. If none of them are correct, they will all be horribly killed. Devise a strategy to save the men.
