Too many people are online at once, and phpBB does a bad job of redistributing DB loads.

I don;t know what version of phpBB this is. I would imagine it is solved in phpBB2 but I don;t think this board is that new so. I don;t think the designers of phpBB and/or FiPG really thought that many users would be trying to recieve data at once so...it might just come and go.

The errors are only partially related to phpBB, and have more to do with the resources available to FiPG from the hosting provider. Whereas in the past FiPG was hosted on a huge fast server, it's currently hosted on a server with less RAM I believe, thus with shared resources sometimes FiPG isn't allocated enough resources...I think there is mention of this in one of the stickies.
I could be pulling it all out of my ass though too.

We're at the latest version of phpBB.
It isn't a phpBB issue, it's a host constraint. We are very limited on RAM and database connections, compared to our old host where things were pretty much unlimited.
The only way to improve it is $$$$$. Tyler pays the hosting out of his pocket, with what little donations the site gets. If you guys want more, you'll have to pony up (and not just once, but on a monthly basis). Shall we make FiPG a paid subscription service? ;)

If he put up trainn links on the homepage, (since freepay is pretty much awful now) I bet he could generate alot more money

It's something we (well, I) have on the to-do list. And probably not just Trainn, but other reputable sites as well.
