Hey guys. Had people over last night and put a bit to much juice into the subwoofer. It tore and now i'm in need of a replacement. The sub was a 6" Kenwood (SW-07HT) 7 ohm 50w/100w
Now, when i purchase a replacement what things do i have to look for? Do i just need a 6" 7ohm subwoofer or must i also match the wattage to combine properly with the original Kenwood sound system? If not i think i'll get higher watt sub. Much appreciation guys!
Also if anyone knows of a good place/site to find a replacement that'd be great

What happened to it? Like what kind of damage? My sub has some type of damage but I'm scared to go to the audio repair place because I'm afraid he's going to say it can't be fixed. \

I'll call it the "waffle screen." The wavey layer that holds the cone in place. It tore right where it's glued to the tube/cone.

Aw shit, I have Alpine and the glue that holds the rubber cone/ring wore off around the center plastic piece that says Alpine. Is that what happened to yours?

I used to bring in my crapola to school when I had a problem. My tech teacher knew how to repair everything. Give that a try. wink

Im pretty sure that both of yours can be fixed as long as the rubber did not get ripped, just the glue. If the rubber is what ripped then there is no hope in fixing it.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking but I'm scared to go. lol What makes you think it can be fixed though? I don't want to send it back to Alpine because the shipping won't be worth it. Anyone else have a problem like this or know of any websites that list help for this?

I dont see why it wouldnt be fixable if the rubber didnt rip at all because its just glued on there in the first place so it can just be reglued.

True but the glue has to be able to withstand throughout the sound waves pounding on it. I thought about gluing it myself but I figured it would be best to take it to the place.

Yea i would take it somewhere to get fixed but you shouldnt have to buy a brand new one they should be able to fix it by simply glueing it back.
