[b3e98c612e2]BUY NOTHING DAY 2006[/size3e98c612e2][/b3e98c612e2]

Every November 25, for 24 hours, we remember that no one was born to shop, we make a small choice to participate by not participating. We call it Buy Nothing Day, and judging by the huge successes seen all across the globe last year – with thousands of activists and fed-up citizens taking part in dozens of countries – this year’s festival of restraint could be the biggest yet.

If you’ve never taken part in Buy Nothing Day, or if you’ve taken part in the past but haven’t really committed to doing it again, consider this 2006 will go down as the year in which mainstream dialogue about global warming finally reached its critical mass. What better way to bring the Year of Global Warming to a close than to point people in the direction of real and effective alternatives to the unbridled consumption that has created this quagmire?

Email us at [b3e98c612e2]BND [at] ADBUSTERS [dot] ORG[/b3e98c612e2] as your plans, posters and photos start to come together. We’ll try to feature the best and brightest right here as this year’s BND takes shape here. In the meantime, take a moment to check out our wrap-up of BND 2005 below to see if you can get inspired.

I probably won't buy anything, because I don't usually go shopping on Saturdays. However, if I need to buy something, I'm not going to hold off on it because of this.

lol...you would fit in perfect at my school.
What does this have to do with global warming?
The worst effects of global warming are economical, and since you don't appear to be a functioning member of the economy, why do you care?
Global Warming
1. Moves climate bands toward the poles, meaning that climates will move North on continents, making places in Canada and Russia that are usually frozen able to be productive. They most likely won't be put to use though since we have enough land already.
2. More percipatation and therefore more rain. Who doesn't like rain?
3. More fiercer storms. Maybe this will lead to more good movies like Twister? Maybe a hurrican one?
4. Ice melts, higher sea levels. Know what that means? Invest in land that is 25 miles in shore and you will have beach front property soon. Displacing people (close to 1 billion) will be the largest problem with global warming, but I don't see why you care.

But anyways, have fun. I know that last year, I went on BND and stores were totaly empty. It is sooo apparent that it is working. Good job.

Heh, I'll go for it. Why not? Might as well do it for the hell of it if everyone else is doing it. This will probably have an affect on stocks though heh.

I don't see what affect it will have. If you need something, you'll buy it the day before or the day after anyways.

This was proven in previous years to have no effect because people buy stuff they need before/after the day. companies to not base their figures on one day of shopping and go " oh shit, our sales dropped 3% from yesterday. ZOMG. Let's close."

I love how you have to "participate" in not buying anything. D
