Will people be camping out for this? I have no idea how reliable this is - http//wii.clambert.org/ - , but it says my Target is getting 51 Wiis in. I was at Target today and I asked the electronics guy and he said they won't know until probably the day before, and even then they probably won't tell you.
At first I was thinking of going to Target at midnight... Am I wasting my time getting there to early or am I not going to get one because I got there too late? What do you guys think?

only a fool would buy that.
NOA plans to release 4 million console units by the end of 2006.
Compare that to the 900,000 360's released in 2005.
I don't think you will have too much trouble waking up at 10 am and walking into a best buy to buy one, and if you don't you can rest assured they will keep getting more in as the weeks pass.
Compare that to the 400,000 PS3's being released. Those are the real money makers if you can manage to snag one.

seeing as how these are going for at least $500 on ebay right now, i'm guessing there will be a line and you won't be able to just pick one up Sunday morning. I could be wrong, but that is just my guess. But the price for a controller is kinda high. It is $39.99 for the controller and $19.99 for the nunchuck controller that attaches to that controller... so $60 for a controller. Does anyone know whats included in the Wii box? Is it one regular controller AND the nunchuck attachment or no nunchuck?
also, what looks like the best launch game to get?

My stores are supposed to get more than 60 Wii's per store. For Futureshop they advertised the Wii like crazy, probably because they actually have stock in, while they never once advertised the PS3, because they knew it would sell out before the store opened. Wii's will be easy to get.

I just called my local WM and they said they weren't allowed to say how many they got / are getting. They said it wouldn't be fair because someone could just go in and buy 3 and others wouldn't have a chance.. lol I don't really know what that means but I asked him if he thought I could just walk in on Sunday at midnight and get one and he said he thinks I would be able to. I am going at 10pm when I get off work, so I hope to get one!
edit I just called another one and they said "I know we have 20 something right now, but I don't know if we are getting anymore." I'll test my luck ).

Excite Truck [8.0/10] didn't get the best of reviews. I'm following what IGN reccomends...because GameSpot is tending to be a Wii-putter-downer.
IGN loved Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess [9.5/10], and Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz [8.4/10]. I'm getting those two games. Plus it comes with Wii Sports, which IGN liked as well, especially the bowling. I love bowling. P

Nintendo is not innovative at all. They're ideas of "innovation" are simply gimmicks because they know they can't compete with Sony and Microsoft anymore. Stop thinking Nintendo wants to make a cheap console because they care. They're making massive profit on each Wii, which was originally intended to be <$100. They ported Zelda over to the Wii, gave it shoddy, gimmicky controls, then delayed the GCN version a month in order to sell more Wiis. Believe it or not, Nintendo is the greediest video game company out there. Take a look at Pokemon. They release two version of every single damn game because they know that little kids will bitch until they get both. Nintendo used to be amazing, and I used to be a fanboy, but nowadays, their pathetic gimmicks just don't work on me. I give the Wii about two years before Nintendo pulls another GCN No third (hardly any first) party support, countless gimmicks, and just empty promises, but once again they'll say, "We're not losing, we're making the most profit," just like they did with the GCN. Also, it was not necessary to stick to 7 year old graphics technology. At the sacrifice of that much horsepower, the Wii should not sell for anywhere near $200. The majority of games look marginally better than the GCN (Some worse), and the gimmicky controller serves only for extremely casual gamers. Personally, I think the Wii is going to be a big flop in the eyes of hopeful gamers.

Agreed. The Nintendo Wii has its Pros and Cons just like the PS3 and 360. Some people like the content of their games more than the graphics. The Wii lets you buy Super Nintendo, N64, Gamecube, etc. games so you can play those as well. For people who like to play games maybe once a week or so, this is great because the games are only $5-10, as compared to 360 and PS3 games which are $50-60+.

it is the hardware inside is cheap why do you think they can make alot at one time even the creator of marion said the wii was suppose to cost 100 bux. to me this is being cheap vs quality the ripe off to me is the wii the same hardwar inside the xbox and ps2 for 250 with a new controller.

so I drove by a lot of places...walmart had nothing left. There was a small line for circuit city around 10 people at most then I went to a Supertarget where supposedly 90 wii were going to be there according to ps3seeker and there were about 20 people there none in tents all in chairs. Then I went to a regular Target pretty close to my house and there were about 15 people there with a few tents. So I'm going to check in about 4 hours to get one (they are handing out tickets at target at 7am they open at 8am)
oh yeah and best buy was terrible there were way too many people there

Well, shit. After playing Red Steel for a good 10 minutes, I've figured out that the reviews are being generous for giving it a 5.5 rating. The controls are horrible. The storyline at the beginning is just weird and half of it is japanese! When I say the controls are horrible, I mean it. I can withstand most controls for games but you seriously cannot even shoot anyone with the crosshairs because you are constantly looking into a wall or shooting in the air. Even while locking on, I found myself shooting walls right next to me or tables. Maybe because I'm tired I had such a rough time but I'm going to try to take it back. (
On another note though, I give the Wii two thumbs up. The interface is sweet, I'm going to download the browser tomorrow. The Wii Sports package is the shit especially boxing. I thought the tennis was kind of boring but the boxing is really good. You can build up your character and stuff. The baseball was decent but I had trouble hitting the ball. The remote really is cool and you will find yourself saying wow as soon as you boot up your Wii and click English with it. Anyone else get any games besides Red Steel? I guess I'll go pick up Zelda even though I'm really not into that kind of stuff.

Damn this forum! Everyone said that you'd be able to just walk in somewhere and get the Wii....NOPE! I woke up at 6AM to go to Target then figured since I was (am) still tired as hell from 36 hour campout for PS3, I'd go back to sleep and wait until about 730. I did that, I got to Target at about quarter of 8, and there were 24 people there, for 24 systems. ( (
Dude told me if I had gotten there 30 minutes earlier I would have gotten one....thing that made me laugh is some idiot got there at noon yesterday. Who'd wait 20 hours for a Wii?

I've been saying since the beginning that there would be lines for the wii. I waited 9 hours at Target in the cold! 8)
damn.....I went to target at 8(only 10 minutes walking distance) thinking I could easily scored one of the 120 units they got. But hell no!!!....There were already a huge line formed outside. I thought I still have a chance to score one so I got online but at 830 a guy from Best Buy started giving out tickets. Turns out Target already gave out tickets and ppl already brought theirs or are already inside(target did confirmed they got 120) Oh well

well I went to Target at about 615 they were handing out tickets at 7 and i was the 32nd in line out of 33 people.
then I went straight to Circuit City around 720 and got another around 835; 13 out of 15 people and the store opened at 10

People were pissed at me because I was third in line for my preorder and I had a crap load of trade ins, oh f-ing well no one said you HAD to be there at 10am for your PREORDER. I think I might take Red Steel back, I dont really want it.

I'm off to TRU right now to pick up my preorder. There's a good chance it's going to be a complete madhouse. I went there 45 minutes ago and there were about 30 people waiting because I guess they're releasing 27 other then the preorders, and then who knows how many preorders they gave out (I'm thinking 20 or so) so at noon it'll be a massive mess of 50/60 people trying to get a Wii.....
Oh well, I'm going with someone, so we'll probably just chill in the car until the crowd dies down. I know I don't have to pick it up right at noon, but I want to lol

I havent heard that either everyone I know that has it loves it, However I wont be opening ours until Christmas Eve. Were you moving the console a lot with the games inside. Scratched disks was a problem with the initial launch of 360's too in some instances.

Zelda seems cool so far. Even though I've played for hrs, I'm still in what looks like the tutorial part. I'm just running around doing odd jobs around town. Hopefully the action picks up soon.
What fitness thing? I've only played 2 of the wii sport games so far.
Also, we do need "normal" controllers for the downloadable games right? But gamecube controllers will suffice?

But if you want to download the old school virtual Wii console games, you might need more. Not knowing how big the games are, I can't say for sure, but I imagine that if you get enough N64 games, it'll add up.

It does list both the gamecube controller and the new "Nintendo Wii Classic Controller", so I guess that answers my question about if the GC controller works on the downloadable games.

I love it. I was thinking about making a thread just for it. I normally don't like RPGs, but for some reason I can always play Zelda. Not sure if its my childhood memory of the original Zelda games, or if its that the developers know how to make the story entertaining, or what.

My friend at the Best Buy geek squad says they'll have more in this week, so I'm probably going to keep the wii if it works today and get another one later in the week. Oh my gosh. I finally got the first update to work. Now I'm on the Wii24connect update or something. I forgot to turn it off before i went to bed and it literally has been updating for 11 HOURS! AND IT STILL IS only 3/4ths DONE!!!!!!! UUUUUGH. I restarted it, and I can't even play anything unless it's updated!!!! AND NOW IT'S GIVING ME THE SAME ERRORS AS BEFORE!!!!!

I find it funny that a system that stresses innovation and revolution in gaming has one of its biggest draws being the fact that it offers old games. Also, those prices suck.
At last year's E3, Reggie Fils-Aime, President of NOA, talked about how Nintendo stresses originality and innovation and games, but just minutes before he introduced the 12 new Mario games being released that year. lol

Holy fuck. I'm the luckiest person alive. My dad, he went to Best Buy today at 8 AM (it opens at 10 AM), because on Sunday, stores aren't open by me. He went to attempt to pick me up a Wii, The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz, an extra Wii-Mote, and an extra Wii-Nunchuk. He got there, got a number. His number was 95. People were camping out since last night. Someone had an electric heater with them, my dad told me. The Best Buy manager came out, and said they had 95 - 100 Wiis, which pretty much guaranteed my dad to get one. My dad stood out there for 30 - 45 minutes at Best Buy alone, and froze his ass off. Toys R Us is right next to the Best Buy. This woman was talking to my dad, and said there were people on line at Toys R Us. She said they had them. My dad was hesitant to leave the line, but there were only ten people at Toys R Us. My dad ran over there, and the Toys R Us manager gave him a ticket. The manager told them if he got the ticket, he was guaranteed a Wii. The store opened at 9 AM. My dad ran in to the back, gathering the other games and accessories I wanted. There were two Monkey Ball games left, he snagged one. Then at the corner of his eye, the last Zelda game was taken. He felt bad. Then some woman yelled..."Does anyone need a Zelda game? I have two, and I really don't need two." My dad ran up to her and got it! The extra Wii-Mote and Wii-Nunchuk accessories were gone. Then he went up to the counter, and someone told him he could ask them for the accessories, because they would have stash behind the counter. He did, and they had them. They gave him the Wii. He paid for it. Went out. Put it in his car. And I officially have my Wii!
$438.65 after taxes. P [I payed for it, obviously.]

Actually, you really don't have to move much at all. As I've said in other posts, flicking your wrist 45 degrees is all it takes. You can of course get more into it with your whole arm, but its not necessary to play the games.

Wolfe, I'm playing mine on a 50" HDTV panny plasma. Compared to playing Gears for the past 2 weeks, the graphics suck. Compared to the GC, its looks awesome. Some of the cut scenes on Zelda look HD, but most shows its true 480 form.

It moves when I move the wiimote, but it moves all over the place. It makes locking on 4 different things with the boomerang on Zelda quite challenging. Either its a bug, or there is some interference coming from the entertainment center in my mom's living room.

Reconfigure the Wii Remote settings, either in the Zelda game, or in the Wii configuration. I havn't had a problem yet, one player or two players...with any game. ;)

Well I know Walmart gets a shipment in every once in a while. Walmart and Target have not have them in for a while now though. Nunchuks are going for about double their vaule on ebay, but I have seen some wii motes go really close to retail on there, so you could check that out.

Alright I have Wii Sports, Zelda, and Super Monkeyball Banana Blitz
I like Wii Sports and it gets played a lot.. however I don't really like Super Monkeyball.. the controls are weird and it's an okay game I guess. And Zelda is a cool game so far.. i'm not too far into it though. I just got a slingshot and fishing pole and it's pretty cool.

you want to wait for Wario Ware. Aside from zelda it is going to be the most fun game for the wii. It comes out early january I think. It will be a bunch of mini games, and tons of fun I bet.
also there is wii play coming out sometime, it is like wii sports but with different games. The only reason i might buy this is because it comes bundled with a free wiimote/nunchuck I believe.

those games aren't going to be supperior graphics. The three really good wii games i'm highly anticipating though.
one is wario ware, trust me you will get hours of play out of this. Fun with friends, and people of any skill level or age.
the next is metroid. Nintendo should have plenty of time to polish this one, and get the controls perfect. The game is made to be played with a wiimote/nunchuck.
and then smash bros.

No, actually it's just that the seller didn't understand that he could just cancel the auction. He tried to cancel all the bids. That guy is not going to sell his wii for $100.
In the bid retraction scam that I heard of, the seller shill bids to figure out how high someone bid, retracts his bid, then puts in another bid so the real bidder ends up at his max amount. I don't know what happened with the ps3s though.
From what I heard, its the buyer who bid with 2 accounts. One account bidding extremely low while another account bidding high? A few seconds before the auction ends, he'll retract his high bid so the account that he bid low on wins. Thats what I been reading, pretty confusing and I still can't figure out if that actually works.

I'm definatly getting Wario Ware when I get mine. If it is as good as past incarnations(for the GBA, and DS) it will be one of the most fun games on the system.
It is simple, intuative, quick and fun for anyone to pick up and showcases all of the wii's capabilities.
