My Walmart had these in today so I grabbed the last 2. They are selling for around 80-90 on ebay now and they cost $35 in store ( if you can find them ). Do you think I should sell now or wait until closer to Christmas?

I'm waiting a little more to ebay mine. I only bought it because some jerk told me they were already going for ridiculous amounts on ebay and I didn't want to leave toys r us empty handed since I didn't get a wii. (

There's a thread on slick deals, I also called some targets in my area and they confirmed it, you'll have to get there early though because there will probably be a line

I might have to go get some, r they 35 or 40? is there a limit of how many u can buy?

ragefu

04-11-2006 15:17:21

35, I didn't ask about the limit when I called, but most everyone on SD have said 2 per person, some said no limit so your best bet is to call your target.

Also they probably won't be handing out tickets before the opening so it will be a mad rush to they toy aisle. be prepared to crack skulls if need be

If they do have a limit do what I did in ToysRus many, many years ago. When furby was the "it" toy, they had a ONE furby per shopper. I needed 6, not for resell but for xmas presents, well I got six in my shopping cart, went to the kidsrus zone hid five in different dressing racks, paid one, placed in the car, and came right in and bought another, etc. They noticed but didn't say anything D Of course hiding them will be a bitch if target is going to be packed with people looking for 'em...

OldManWrigley

04-11-2006 17:17:36

Yeah I've woken up early every day too, got to get to school, ya know. Today I had to wake up to go help my mom do something, tomorrow for Elmo....

Tuesday = Election day....

Election day = Day off.....

Day off = Sleeping in..... )

I'm hoping my mom will come with me, so we can each get 2 if there is a limit.

How does this work? If i am allowed to run, then i will beat anyone handsdown. But i remember my gf did this last year with those talk-about cell phone walkie-talkies (she made a killing 2 days before x-mas) and she said that the sales associate told them that if they ran or fought they would be kicked out the store. Also do they place them all together in the toy dept or scatter them throughout the store?
i am new to this. are people going to try and grab them from my hands?

I went to the Target at 720, and it was dead. I drove around in circles a little bit because I didn't want the opening employees to see me waiting for 40 minutes then have me go in and there not be any Elmos and look like a fool, so I finally pulled back in at 745 and there was a women and her two children outside the door, nobody else. I chilled, the doors opened, the women entered, I was right behind her. We both went straight to the toy section, where there was a cart with about 7 Elmos on it. The lady grabbed 4 (she gave two to her husband who came out of nowhere so it would be legit), I grabbed 2, and an employee grabbed one. Sold out in the first 3 minutes lol

Dave82

05-11-2006 05:47:39

Hey, guys. I just got back from Target and wanted to share my TMX story
First off all, everyone knew. I arrived at 730 and there were already people waiting. There were all these Chinese kids waiting too. I am from the area so i knew the layout of the store. The girl opening unlocked the electronic doors first instead of the pull side pair. I think they usually open the pull pair first becuase everyone was on that side. So my friend and i were one of the first ones in. Everyone ran. There were associates waiting by the Elmos. I had two at first but couldnt hold on (those old ladies are vicious!!) so i let one go. It was cool though, bc atleast i had an Elmo. But then one of the Chinese kids grabs it from under my arm from behind me unexpectedly. I turn around and he already had two (three with the one he took from me, even though there is a 2 per personn limit) and him and his friends start laughing and saying stuff to each other in chinese. I was so pissed. So torn sleeve, check...... scratches on hands, check..... trampled feet, check...... Tickle Me Elmo, negative (

I have never seem anything like it. My friend didnt get any either because he saw the mob and refused to fight. [b6c9d3b8de6]Any tips on what to do next time????[/b6c9d3b8de6] At circuit city, a man behind the counter hands the hot deal item to people and there is NO pushing, NO shoving, NO grabbing. I wasnt expecting people to "fight" and on top of that steal from the fight

OldManWrigley

05-11-2006 05:56:16

No it was very calm, it was completely dead except for me, the employees, and that one women and her husband and two kids. I grabbed one, then she actually handed me another. That's all. No comotion, no fighting....very peacefull.

Just saw one sell on eBay for $97.01 + $18.50 shipping lol

Dave82

05-11-2006 06:16:12

Killer722

I got mine at Toys R Us, they had 180 elmos and I could have bought 4 if I wanted to. They gave everyone 1 ticket and they went back around for seconds. And wtf, elmo cost me $40 before tax.

BD2006BD

05-11-2006 06:22:11

Did you get yours at TRU today?

GCY

05-11-2006 06:26:17

Just score one at Target in NY!!!!
I was there only 5 minute early but it don't really matter since they don't have any on the shelves!!! There were already a bunch of ppl waiting to get in.(I guess I was lucky ) After 15 minutes of searching, someone came outta nowhere and got 2. They happen to store them in the back, the first 5-10 got 2 but after that they'll only give one. I barely got one though.
I was told they have 40 in stock, I think its more 25-30.

btw....I got the Top Secret one. From what I have heard on SlickDeals, the Top Secret one goes for more on ebay.....if ur planning on selling it.

Story
Got at Nashua, NH Target at 750, 4 people were ahead of me. The men in line told me they had 12 inside. So I'm thinking cool. Door opens. Men ahead of me start running to the escalator. The first person in line, who was handicapped, didn't end up getting one because he couldn't run. I feel bad for him. I didn't get one at that store, they only had 3. "..."

Called the store in Salem, NH. They said they had 20. So I booked it over there. Got there at 830. Saw a lady coming to the register with two in hand. I asked her where they were and she pointed me to them. I saw 6 on the shelves. I took two. Payed. Put them in my car. Went back. Grabbed the last one on the shelf. Paid. Left.

i dont know if it helps anyone, but when i called Walmart today the woman said that they dont know if they are going to have them until the truck comes in during the evening and they load it at night. She told me to call the store in the morning about an hour before they open and ask to be transferred to toys and they will tell you if they have them in or not. She told me that at Walmart they give you tickets and there is not pushing or stealing.

I just wondered if you can call a store like Walmart before it opens though bc wouldnt the automated sysystem just say their normal business hours are blah blah. But i thought i'd mention it anyway.

Reminds me of that movie Jingle All the Way with the Governator. And Black Friday. I work at Target, but I didnt work today, Im sure tomorrow I'll hear some frightening stories about what happened yesterday. The first day we had them some lady cleared us out, bought 18. No one had set a limit on them yet.

Chris

05-11-2006 18:01:41

I managed to get two..

My story, I get there at 745, NOONE was there so I was kinda happy. A few seconds later a grandma in a minivan parked next to me and came out of her car, tapped at my window and said hi.. After talking to her for about 3 minutes she told me she can hardly walk, and that if it would be possible for me to get her one while she waits by the cashiers, I told her fine..

While we were talking a guetto ass car comes in the parking lot, with their music blasting and 4 people get out and RUN to the door, mind you the store is still closed... The lady and I just look at each other and go to the store entrance. Shortly after a Target worker comes out and tells us that they only have a small supply of elmos.. The group of four people who were black, looked at each other and asked among themselves what the hell the lady was talking about... A couple of minutes later the store opens, and there is a line of about 12-15 people they all RUN to the toys section except the group of 4 people, they get their carts and go to the kids section and start looking at clothes (wtf??) Well I'm the second person to get to the Toys section where the elmos are at, they have about 20, and a limit of ONE per guest. I quiclly grab three, I hid one by the sporting goods, and went to the cashier with two at hand. While I was walking to the cashier a damn employee YANKS one out of my hand, and tells me there is a ONE per guest limit, I told him it wasn't for me but that it was for the elderly woman waiting for me at the cashier, he didn't believe me and said he would walk with me to her. He saw me giving it to her, and he apologized, I thought it what he did was bullshit, since he had scratched my arm from yanking the toy from me, I told him I wanted to speak with a supervisor or manager for his actions. He said the manager was not in yet, but that for his actions he would allow me to buy another Elmo, we walk together to the elmo section and they are all GONE, he had a grin on his face and said, "will you look at that, the elmo toy is a hot toy afterall", I happily told him to follow me, we went to the sporting goods department and his face dropped when I pulled one out of the sleeping bag boxes. I paid for both and left the store with two..

05-11-2006 18:09:01

Wow, what a story.

Funny thing is, I'm an idiot. I work at Toys R Us and we got like 70 in stock and I could've bought a few, easily, but I didn't. I looked at the pricse on eBay and didn't see a huge profit margin and wasn't interested in "wasting my time" in getting some. I regert it now, but we'll get more before Christmas and that'll drive the price up on eBay (I hope) at which point, I'll get a lot and screw over all those hopeful little kids.
