Big Xbox Live Firmware Update Tomorrow

It's gonna have over 85 new items including 1080p support and streaming from USB devices (flash drives, etc) and Zune support, and a ton of minor and significant updates.. All I can say is...fuck yea, son.

I'm really excited for that part. I finally don't have to fuss about converting to .voburl==http://=http:///url format.

and you can stream video from any windows pc, not just media center.

Now if they would only allow streaming from a Mac....

Only wmv I think. I bet someone creates something like Transcode but it will instead encode xvid/divx into wmv on the pc as it streams so people without mce have more choice.

Windows Media Encoder is free from microsoft.

the streaming is cool. I can't get it to recognize my external HDD though.

yea only WMV.. I wish it did xvid and stuff. But you can get a program like winAVI (off torrentspy or something) and convert them.

I'll have to mess around with it tonight.. that's pretty cool though. This may be easier than using my MiniMac to stream the videos

It's really easy, all you have to do is configure windows media player 11 to share with the 360 and the 360 can read any music/pictures/videos in the my videos/my music/my pictures folders in 'my documents'

I've already set it up for sharing MP3s - do I need to set it up through Media Player also?

You can get on Silver for free though. It has everything Gold has except for the ability to play online with others, so you can get the benefits of the update...

Wow that was a pretty fast update considering all of the stuff it updated. shock

I followed the steps, and now the 360 can't even connect to the PC for anything... and Windows Media Connect isnt sitting in my taskbar anymore either

I'm using the Windows Media Encoder now... but unfortunately it's taking close to 2 hours to encode a 60 minute TV show (

I'm really glad they disabled notifications while watching DVD's. That update was overdue.
