I came across this image a while ago of flowers and blue sky and wanted to send it to my gf. I could not right click and save because it was a flash, so i wanted to hit "print screen" and paste it and save it. However it would not work. I use FF, so i tried in IE and same thing, did not copy the screen shot.

Anyone know how they blocked it?

I dont have the site address anymore. It was in my favorites and then when i updated FF it decided to wipe out all my bookmarks.

Flash is similar to a movie in this respect that Print Screen won't capture it. I don't remember how to capture it, but someone else might.

That's weird. When I updated firefox it didn't wipe out all of my bookmarks.

If you can give me the site, I might be able to download the flash file and extract the picture from it. It'll probably be in JPG or a normal form so you can send it.

that cant be it, because i have been able to "print screen" a flash image before.

Firefox updates should never wipe out bookmarks, that's strange. Your profile remains intact.

For some reason it might have not recognized your old profile and created a new one. Check [b9693a9f140]C\Documents and Settings\(yourname)\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles[/b9693a9f140] for multiple profile folders. If you have more than one, then one of them should be your old one. Look in there to see if your bookmarks.html file is still present, then copy it to your current default profile.

Or you can edit the profile Path in profiles.ini to point to your old profile.

Worth a shot...

thanks for the help with the pic, but it isnt about the picture. I wanna know what script they used to block "print screen".

Hmm...what a coincidence. I was trying to print screen on a website for my dad (in IE) but it wouldn't copy the screen. It would only happen when that particular browser window was in "focus." All I did was take the focus off of that window (ie click on the taskbar), [i06c66fb7df]then[/i06c66fb7df] try the print screen again. It should work.

What's weird is I've never heard of a piece of code that could block you from using print screen?

You can't block Print Screen with a script. You can catch keys with browser script, but only when the browser has focus and even then I'm not sure Print Screen is a key you could intercept.

Most likely the problem is that most video isn't screen-cap'able, particularly when it runs in overlay mode. Video overlay isn't visible to the standard GDI frame buffer, which is what is captured by Print Screen. I don't know if Flash videos use overlays or not, but most media players do.

I am just wondering how they did it or why didnt print screen work. DMorris' explanation make sense.
