Fuck; paypal chargeback. Can anyone help?

So on the day the 80GB iPod was released, I put up an auction with a BIN for the 80GB for $400 shipped. A guy bought it and paid for it, so I went to apple and ordered the iPod straight to his house from there.

Today the guy did a chargeback to my account. I have ten days to respond and make sure my account is not permanently fucked, so does anyone have any idea what I can do? I don't even have $400 right now.

I'm imagining the guy got the iPod and realized just recently that he paid more than he had to for it, but I sent it to him nonetheless, and now I'm in deep debt.

Help? (

I don't have tracking or delivery confirmation, because the iPod was shipped directly from Apple.

I don't have an email receipt either, but is it possible to get a copy from Apple somehow?

I would just explain the whole thing to them. If you bought it from apple you probably have a tracking # right? I don't see how he could get away with this.

possibly if you contact them asking for purchase history for a certain credit card or w/e they definately keep it on file.

man this shit sucks!

Ok, I got a tracking number from my account history on Apple's website. It also required the buyer to sign, which he did (personally).

What other information should I provide, in addition to the tracking number? Should I mention it was the buyer that signed? Does paypal usually favor the buyer or the seller in this sort of situation?

I also have the order details from Apple's website. What info from there should I include? Are screenshots any good?

hehehhehe

I would think that you're set with that info. Did the buyer say he never recieved it? If so, yeah, give Paypal the tracking number and say he even signed for it. As it comes from Apple, you probably even have proof that it was an 80GB ipod that he received so mention that as well.

Yeah I'd show them all the proof you can get your hands on. What's their feedback like on eBay compared to yours?

I don't know how to see what the buyer claimed; is that even possible on my end? He never contacted me, he just made the chargeback.

My feedback is 102 (it was closer to 40 when I sold it though) and his feedback is 6.

How would I present the information? I can give the Fedex tracking number, the apple invoice, and the apple order number. Will that be enough? Should I also include a screenshot of the Apple confirmation page (it mentions both me and the buyer).

I'm sure I'll win this case, I just want to make sure I present it correctly. Never done this before, and at the moment the stakes are rather high.

By the way, thanks for the help, everyone. I rag on this forum a lot but it really is a kickass place.

Yeah put all that info (maybe upload images to imageshack and place links) in the Paypal comments box they provide. I'm not sure if you can put everything at once, the part where you provide the tracking number may be separate but maybe that's just when you use paypal shipping. Just put everything you got like jump says and you should win.

Oh, and they're supposed to email you and call you before filing a claim.

I hate these fucking scammers.

Ok, one last question When I click "resolve," I'm brought to a page with a few buttons, like "provide tracking number," "provide other information (excluding tracking number)," etc. If I use one of these methods, can I use another one as well?

You could also call Paypal and ask them how they'd like you to present it.

I mean it's not a huge deal, just present it in a way that will make sense to them.

The only thing I'm not sure about is when they ask you to provide proof, are you limited in the number of characters you can enter, because if so, multiple imageshack screenshots may take up all of the space.

When I had a trader file a complaint against me, I called them up and explained it and they told me what to do with the information and proof that I had. They were more than helpful.

If you're in a bind with character limits using imageshack, you can use tinypic.com which gives you a tiny url to insert.

As others have said, though not explicitly, you only get one chance to enter your defense information with Paypal, so do it all at once, if possible (so I remember).

hehehhehe

Yeah, that's the part I wasn't sure about. Normally, the tracking number is entered and then Paypal is supposed to review it while the buyer is able to cancel their claim. If Paypal sees that the delivery tracking worked, they might side for you right away.

Well, I entered my tracking number and wasn't able to submit the screenshots, so I'm on hold with them right now.

I'm sure it will go in my favor, but it's annoying nonetheless. ?

I'd suggest calling them and telling them. I've had a lot of account problems with paypal, and I found the phone was the best way to go....

The only problem I could see is that you sold something you did not own

That's called drop-shipping, and what the majority of hyper-successful eBay sellers do.

You can also tinyurl the imageshack urls.

I find it very, very hard to believe that was the only reason your Paypal account was limited.

As do I, because like doylnea said, drop shipping is an extremely common practice on eBay. There are businesses setup specifically to supply eBay sellers with products that the seller never sees -- if you do any of the eBay freebie offers you'll see for yourself, as most include a drop-ship feature as part of their "membership."

Anyway, I emailed all the additional info, so we'll just have to wait and see.

What a pain in the ass, though.
