BOARD CD SWAP, FALL '06!!

So I stole this off of another message boards, but I figured it would probably work really well here since this isnt really a music forum..

For those unfamiliar with board CD swapping, here's a brief overview of what it is and how to do it
The CD swap is a way for board members to expose each other to music. One board member burns a mix CD of his/her favorite songs/bands (make it diverse!) and snail-mails it to his/her assigned partner, who will do the same. It's a great way to hear bands you might not hear otherwise, as well as more obscure local music from your partner's area.

Here's how it works
1. IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, SEND ME A PM!!

Include an email address, and about 5 bands/artists you like (so I can make matches accordingly). You have ONE WEEK to do this. I'm gonna pair people up on the evening of NOVEMBER 1ST. That is the DEADLINE.

lililiNOTE If you don't have a CD burner or if you would rather use Yousendit (an online way to send song files), include the word "YSI" in the subject line, so I can pair you with someone using the same method.


2. On November 1st, I am going to pair everyone up. I will make a new thread announcing all the pairs. I will TRY to pm each participant the email address of their partner, but I can't promise this, sometimes there are just too goddamn many of you. Then it is YOUR JOB to get in touch with your partner, via PM, email (or myspace, or whatever) to SWAP NAMES AND ADDRESSES.

3. Then make your mix CD (as soon as you can). Make it diverse! Include some local music if you can. Then send it to your partner.

I like the idea, but I think the majority of us use other means to get the music we'd like to hear.

I think Jumps kind of missing the point. Its more about getting exposed to new music that you may not have even heard of. This is especially true for those who include local music.

Well its just meant to be fun. I bet you'll hear something that you've never heard before and maybe like it. Espically if you put something on there that's local.

It'd be more fun if we ban people if we receive shitty music.. In that case I would be gone, but all the in the name of fun.

Well I just sorta abandoned it becasue only like 5 people signed up. If you can get more people in on it, then ill keep doing it.
