Okay. I have a midi keyboard, that i've been using with Jazz++ . I'm sort of getting tired of the cheesy sounding instruments it has, and I was wondering if someone could point me in the general direction of a free or cheap program that you'd reccoment, that i can use my midi keyboard with to create some funky jams. Thanx!

if you had a mac i'd suggest garageband
but fruityloops might support midi... not sure.

yeah. i wish i had garageband simply for it's ease of use. i don't know if fruityloops supports it, i've heard of it though. i'll look into that one. anyone have any other suggestions?

how simple? I have "midisoft recording session" which gives you 16 tracks, 128 general midi instruments and soundcard midi in/out support. It also displays, but won't print notes, and forget about dynamics and ties (it does them if you record them on the keyboard, but a quick manual click n' fix won't let you do ties).
Looking for something a little more up and up? Noteworthy composer.
I can always hook you up with reason 3 if you needed too...

Have any of you ever used Sony ACID ? From the demo, it doesn't look to advanced/hard. What are your opinions on this software?

Not to intentionally threadjack, but how cheap do MIDI (DIN) to USB cables go for these days?

no problem tholek, i don't mind. I don't know how much those cables run though. My m-audio has a native usb out D lol. It's so much easier, seeing how my motherboard doesn't have a midi in anyways.
