Firefox 2.0

Anyone using it yet? I installed it at work today and found it to work well.

http//weblog.infoworld.com/techwatch/archives/008508.html

The inline spell check was pretty slick. I found the tab "x" to be out of place. Each tab gets its own X, whcih isn't a huge deal. All of my extensions besides Fasterfox were able to update to 2.0. I did find that using Alt-S to submit messages on forums didn't work - it took me to a dropdown menu instead.

The "every tab gets its own X" thing is taken from Safari =D

I'm on 1.5.0.7 and I have the X's on each tab.

Is 2.0 final yet?

Yes. It's just been unofficially released a day early.

I've had X's on tabs for years now, first with TBE and now with Tab Mix Plus. Sounds like they're finally taking the popular tab extensions and building them in. 'bout time.

I've been avoiding the RC's of IE and Firefox, now I guess it's time to update both.

I'm using 2.0 now, and don't have the X's. I'm not using any special themes either.

Edit I lied, I'm using the Minifox theme

Doesn't do that to me i have bookmarked 2 things in the past 5 min. Im using a mac tho so that could be the difference. I havent noticed much of a difference except i can accually stream videos that are in wmv format when before i needed a plug-in and was not able to download it.

No, there is a final release after RC3 -- not sure how much if any has changed, but it's a newer release.

i've been using it for a couple months now and absolutely love it.

The "X" on each tab makes it a hellofa lot easier to close each tab. The inline spell check is extremely handy.

Those are the two biggest enhancements I saw...

You can just middle click tabs to close them you know. I definitely don't like the new "x" buttons.

I also want a new theme. None of the ones I searched for support Firefox 2.0 though. (

I like how when you use the Google search feature it tries to finish off your search. I typed in Je- and it gave me Jenna Jamison, which then turned into some interesting searches including; "Jenna Jamison moan tones".

I think it's showing recent searches with the same start that you put in...

With that I chuckled.

...and no I wasn't looking particularly for Jenna, Je were just two random letters I pushed.

mmm... never knew that was there, actually kind of used to the X being at the far right of the bar and now that it's gone I feel kinda lost. Kind of hard to use the middle button my G5 because it tends to side-scroll left or right when I press on it... And for the fasterfox issue, I'm pretty sure you can get around the issue by just using firetune. It speeds up firefox a bit too and I'm pretty sure it works on 2.0 because it's not an actual plugin

This happens to me too but if you change the 'Create-In' location to one the other folders, it'll work. At least for Me it works.

And this spell check thing really is kickass... I love how it works in everything (including these message reply boxes and gmail emails and especially how it's really unobtrusive since it's a really light red line. It'd be nice if they had a function like in gmail where you can click the word and see a couple of word choices to replace the misspelled word with. I think there's a bunch of people here at FiPG who could use this "instant-gratification" spell check seeing that there's certain people who have such horrendous spelling that it takes a couple of reads to understand their post.

0 = close button on only current tab
1 = close button on all tabs
2 = no close buttons at all
3 = no close buttons on tabs, but one on the far right (like 1.5)

Found the solution to the Alt-S issue

[quotef363909d52]Type aboutconfig in the address bar and hit enter.
Type access into the filter bar
Double-click on ui.key.contentAccess and set its value to 4.[/quotef363909d52]

This will make browser and content accesskeys have the same alt+key combination, but will make the content accesskeys have more precedence than the others.

I've been in love with the iFox theme ever since it came out. It's so simplistic, yet elegant.

I had to do some searching to find the new iFox theme that supports 2.0. I finally found it ---

http//www.deviantart.com/deviation/34185996/

It's from the makers of iFox, but they haven't gotten around to submitting it to the Firefox theme pages yet (they have a bunch on there for earlier versions, but none for 2.0 that work). Just download it to your desktop, open the themes window in Firefox, click and drag it in, install it, and you're done.

Once you start using it you won't want to use any other theme. ;)

I feel disgusted if I try out any other themes. There just aren't very many good ones out there IMO.
