shock

So I got a check today in the mail from Global Finacial INC. today for $2,898.79. It has water marks, no contract or bullshit ont he back...from what i can tell it is 100% real.

I got a letter saying I need to cash it and call this # back for further directions. I think the guy on the phone some what mentioned this 3k is for tax purposes...I think i'll be sending it somewhere to get my $182,000..not 100% sure...

I just wanna know if anyone has heard of them before...this sounds WAY too good to be true.

Yeah it's real. It's a survey you signed up for a few months ago and they are legit. I got mine a few days but I've been so busy buying stuff it totally slipped my mind to post.

But seriously, that's nuts. There's no way it can be real. shock

scam, you'll cash it, send the money, then the check will bounce and you'll never be contacted again

i would be wary of cashing it or depositing it or doing anything with it/your bank account. i have no idea what is going on here but use caution... and brace yourself for disappointment

Well, I wonder what can happen if he just cashes it and waits until it clears? I mean I know this isn't real but this would be taking a step in trying and proving this scam wrong for sure.

Yeah, i'm not all excited about it...sounds wayyyy too good...but whats the worst that can happen if i take it to my bank and deposit it and see if it clears...can the ppl who sent it get info from that they could use?

Think about it.. why wouldn't they just give you the full sum, less their tax/administrative fees?

I think it's a loan of some sort...

http//www.globalfinancialinc.com/

Not sure thought but I doubt it's free money, you'll have to pay it back. It's from doing a offer or survey, I get that crap all the time.

Strange, I just saw a news report this morning about this same thing. A guy got a check and was said to have won x amount of money, but was only given a check for a portion of it up front. He was supposed to pay taxes on his winnings before he would be given all of it, which he could use his check for. I believe the idea was for him to pay these guys (the ones who gave him the check) "taxes" with the cashed check (which would bounce... seeing as how it wasn't real) and await the rest of his reward. The guy thought better and contacted someone... had he cashed it, he would have had to spit up the green because HE endorsed the check. They say it's often dificult to track these people down because they are usually in another country. In short, as much as you'd like to believe you have won a ton of money and cash that check, DON'T! Sorry. If you need more evidence, do some googling... I'm sure you'll find your exact situation elsewhere.

My grandfather got one of those. My aunt was skepticle so she phoned the guy (turned out to be a cell number). She finally told him that she thought it was a scam. He said that he knew where my grandfather lived and was going to come and kill him if she didn't keep her mouth shut... I don't think any legit lottery would threaten you life.

Did you rip it and write VOID in black ink all over it? ^_^

that happened to me before, it was from diamond marable or something, it was a real $2,500 check for taxes that was for a $98,000 prize.. i did alot of researching/calling, and turns out its a regular scam, they tell you to send that money to another account, but then the money doesnt go through and there you go you just lost a few thousand bucks

i actually cashed it in and waited a long time instead of immediately sending the money to the other account, a week or so and it didnt go through just as suspected.

i also called their number and the guy just said "hello?" instead of "diamond, blablalbal how may i help you"

i just suggest you dont cash it in at all, sweepstakes/lotteries already take the amount of taxes off of the prize youre getting, legit companies dont send you a check to pay taxes, just like collegegraduit said.
