Not always true. In Nevada its 15 1/2 but in Iowa where I got my permit its olny 14. Plus you can get a school permit at 14 so you can drive to school and back by yourself. I've been driving on my own for three years come the 28th!

I think it differs from state to state because I'm pretty sure that I got mine right when I turned 15.

Same here, for my permit it was right at 15, but for your license in Indiana, it's 16, 1 month, and 1 day. I don't know what the extra day, or month, for that matter, does to increase your driving aptitude, but whatever.
