I have been jet skiing many times. I have famiy in Michigan and everyone there drives to lake for weekends. I love it, highly recommended activity if you have never been. I want to purchase a couple jet skis (not right NOW) but in the near future. Obviously they wont be used for a while with the winter coming and all. But i live near Lake Erie now.

I wanted to get opinions from people who have different types of jet skis.
I have primarily used Sea-doos. The seem great, but again, i dont have much basis for comparision.

I thought i'd give it a shot and make a post. If anyone has good recommendation for which ones have better motors, less maintenance, etc.

Also any thoughts about purchasing them used? Many people advise against purchasing used Jet skis, but i want more info.

Thanks

My dad has a Seadoo RXP. It's supercharged 215 horse and it's faster then a mother. He bought it used but it only had a few hours on it. here's the link.

well buying jetski's nowadays.

You want to be sure to buy [b3479d388e3]4-stroke jetskis[/b3479d388e3]. With these, you are generally keep them with less worry. 2-stroke jetskis require you to fill it up w/ a tank of oil about every 4 times u fill up the gas tank because they burn they burn an oil/fuel mixture. But w/ 4-stroke you change the oil once a season like a car.

Anything you buy, make sure you buy a 4stroke, whether it be Seadoo (Bombardier) or Yamaha.

As Hairyferry mentioned above the seadoo RXP is badass, me and my ucnle bought one when it first came on the market, and then my uncle moved to cali, and sold his jetski. Your average joe jetski will cost you about 7-8k new. The high end musclecraft cost between 9-11.5

But as far as brands are concerned, you are safest buying from yamaha or seadoo, they are the two primary PWC manufacterers in the world, and are known to be the most reliable, however kawasaki has always been running nearby in 3rd (I think)

I have a 3 seater 2000 seadoo gtx and have only had problems when my cousins have drove them so from that stand point i would not buy used because people tend to not take care of their jet skis. I also a stand up kawasaki 800 sx-r which takes a while to learn how to drive but once u get used to it it is much more fun than a sit down one but it also is a lot more work.
