I weigh 145 pounds and am an ectomorph. What would be a good workout routine for me? I have 2 barbells, a bench with a bar, and 2 10-lb weights and 4 15-lb weights. How many times a week? My mom forces me to eat fruit only for breakfast, and I have a powerbar, apple, bag of chips, vitamin water, and turkey/ham/cheese/salami/lettuce sandwich on brown rice bread for when I'm at school. After school, I eat whatever my mom makes which is usually chili, fish, curry beef/chicken, etc with rice and vegetables. I eat a personal pizza before bed. I drink lots of water throughout the day with the occasional soda on some days.

I can't go to the gym because I don't have a car.

Ok.
1) You need some protein in your diet. Right now there isn't any really.
Try to get foods in there such as-
Skinless chicken
Lean turkey
Steak
Fish
Eggs
Milk (Non fat)
Cottage Cheese
Natural peanut butter
Protein Shakes
2) Get rid of the personal pizza.
3) Have 6 meals per day, consisting of around 400 calories per meal at least.
4) Buy a protein shake mix/weight gainer, and take it with milk. My advice for protein shake would be Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey.
5) Find a way to get to that gym. Whether your mom drives you, w/e, the gym can help so much.
6) Make sure you are drinking at least 64 oz of water per day.
7) If you don't gain weight at 400 calories per meal, and 6 meals per day, after 2 weeks or so, raise it up until you are gaining weight.

What do you think is a good meal plan for someone who is always on the go, maybe having about 10 minutes to make meals. I need to lose about 20-30lbs and I think my main problem is resorting to junk food that can be made up in 5 minutes.

Oatmeal is great, and that weight control stuff tastes great with some skim milk, takes about 2 minutes to make too. Protein shakes+Skim milk are extremely easy and quick as well. Lean turkey with wheat bread sandwhich. Unsalted peanuts are healthy fats. There are these lean chicken strips that you can simply microwave for 30 seconds or so, and they taste delicious.

Im skinny too. Im 19 and about 135 or something like that. Problem is there is no way I can eat 6 times day. I never eat breakfast and rarely lunch. My first meal comes at about 3 or 4 Mon-thurs(college)....but Fri to Sun, I eat normally, 3-4 times a day.

Im sure if i just ate normally for the week, i'll easily gain weight.

Ok, for those needing to gain weight, you MUST eat at least 5 meals per day. If you don't have time in the morning, Oatmeal is good. Add some fruit in there and it should be good. My advice would be to get a weight gainer. Some of them contain around 1,000 calories with milk in each serving! If you need any help with finding any, please let me know.

Personally, I would not try to drop the weight, but maybe move it around and re-shape it. Work on cardio at the gym, especially bikes which will increase leg muscle. Keep in mind that the more muscle you have, the faster your metabolism will work. You could lose some fat, gain some muscle, and stay at your current weight and I think look better than if you were to simple lose the weight (typically fat and muscle unless you are doing a well-thought cut after a bulk phase).

Im 6'3 250 I work about 50-60 hour's a week and when im on break i grab a hot pocket fast food ext... I drink probably way to many mountain dews I would like to get back down to 200

I gained probably 10-15 pounds over the summer cause i took a break from life and wasted it on world of warcraft so eating pizza's fast food drinking pop is ALL i did all summer I regret every second of it. If you have seen the South Park of WoW that was me all summer.

MyJobIsThis, what about slowly decreasing some of your pizza and soda intake? Make sure you drink plenty of water and you will not crave soda as much. I used to drink 4 cans of soda a day and gave it up almost 3 years ago and not a drop since. I think making those simple changes will make a difference. It is best if you can make small changes you can turn into habits than to make large temporary changes.

I'm about 6'1" and 165 pounds. I'm having trouble gaining weight and height. I work out 5 days a week and I eat 3 large meals a day with lots of protein in all of them. I also take Creatine pills. I'll have a protein shake every other day or so when I remember. I need to start drinking them every day. ?

What can I do to improve on gaining weight and height? My dad is 6'6" and I'm not sure about his weight (probably 250 or something). I mostly resemble him in my family though and I will probably grow just like him. He told me he grew a lot when he was 17-19 and I just turned 17 so I'm going to try to do as much as I can to help myself grow and gain weight during this period.

Anyway, I've only gained 5 pounds in probably 4-6 months and I've only grown like an inch within the past 4-6 months.

buy bulk cee powder and have with some dark i mean Dark grape juice and put 5 grams of powder of cee powder b4 and after workout and you will have a creatine spike. or get bulk dextrose from NOW foods. i can grow a pound of muscle per week or more if i deal with roids Z

depends on body type. you seem like an ecto or a hard gainer

That's what I plan on doing, I believe if I just start drinking water/ stop eating junk food I should be good.

She must have been eating wrong or something. If you are eating 3000+ calories per day or so, (remember, the weight gainer is around 1000 just by itself), then you should be gaining weight. If you aren't, then you can simply have another serving of your weightgainer, or eat more.

6'1" and 150 isn't "very unhealthy". I'm the same height and only 15 pounds more. Last year I was around 6' 150 lbs and I wasn't unhealthy at all, and I didn't look skinny.

Right now I look fine but I would like to be more toned in muscle and I still want to grow more and gain more weight.

i'm somewhere around 180-190 (last time i checked, about 1 month ago) and i'm, 5'5"
I pretty much gave up drinking pop, and i've stopped going to fast food restaurants for lunch when i'm at work.

I'll eat one of those quaker oatmeal squares for breakfast and drink a little silk soymilk to wash it down.
I eat a turkey or roast beef sandwich for lunch every day.
For dinner, sometimes i wont eat because i just forget to, or i'll eat some stir fried vegetables with soy sauce, or i'll just make some crap that i find in the freezer.
I think i've lost a little weight, my belt feels a little bit looser than it did before, i gotta find a scale to weigh myself.

I just need to start excersizing some and I think i'll be on the right track. And also i should probably start eating better dinners.

3500 calories in excess of what you burn should give you a lb. of weight. If you can factor in an extra 500 to 750 calories a day over your maintenance intake, you should be good. btw, maintenance intake is what you eat and remain the same weight.

I'm 6'1'' and 142 lbs...i lift 3 days a week run every other day...i look pretty in shape to be honest, no desire to gain weight. I actually want to keep lowering my body fat so my six pack becomes more visible (just peeking through now)

I drink protein milkshakes after workouts and have the occasional bar once in a while. This is in addition to eating chicken and some other protein foods regularly (probably still not enough, but I can't eat protein all day). Any advice on continuing to shape the 6 pack? My normal ab routine is just like 4 sets of crunches, and I just do reps until my abs hurt badly. (this is the only excercise where i dont have a set rep)

btw...I heard that 6 meals a day makes you lose weight (due to a steady flowing metabolism) rather than gain.

You can both lose weight and gain with 6 meals a day, matters about calorie intake. But for crunches, do weighted crunches, that should help more. But abs are made in the kitchen.

Im not trying to lose weight to look better. At this point i already have a six pack and 16 inch biceps. 6 foot 3 194 isnt heavy for the average person but as a skateboarder i think the 14 pounds will help make large gpas and stairs a lot easier to skate. D

I'm now 170 lbs. I need some recommendations on what kind of pills/powders I should get that are more effective. I have some creatine pills but they don't really seem to do much.

Right now I think I'm gonna go with Kidd's recommendation of "Bulk Cee" powder and I'll see how that goes.

I've been eating SO much lately because I don't want my cardio workouts to interfere with my weight. lol

Yeah I'm bumping this.

Working out regularly really shows. Last semester I went to the gym 3 times a week and cut out a meal ( I usually ate 3 meals a day ) each day ( I tried to, some days were more stressful than others ;) ) I weighed around 200 and I got down to 190, but Thanksgiving killed me and now it's around ~193.

I think the key for me was cutting down on the eating. Not to mention I can already tell the visual and physical difference from working out. I'm shooting for 185 for spring break.

I do an hour of cardio and an hour of light weights almost every day. Then I eat healthy, but have little "rewards" here and there. So far I like how my body is taking shape. My friend is as tall as me, but doesn't have any muscle like I do so he looks overly thin and...scrawny.
