Tanning seems to be really popular in Ohio. There are tanning places [b0b935b3fad]everywhere[/b0b935b3fad]. I see more tanning places than Starbucks. And that isnt a joke. Every shopping plaza here has a tanning salon. This is strange to me as i am from the DC/Maryland area. We arent a sunny area, but we still still dont have a lot of tanning salons. In fact i cannot think of one. And i never heard of guys using them, just fake bake girls.
Well my gf commented on how pale i was and asked if i would ever go tanning. I was shocked because she is major anti-tanning. I was also shocked because i didnt know guys went tanning. She said a lot of them do, especially Italians. What?? The only guys i can think of that i assume tan are the thick necks at the gym here because they are fake bake tan year round. But i always thought most of them were..... er.... well they are just a strange breed anyway.
Is DC too busy for tanning and the whole country is littered with these salons (minus AZ, CA, etc)? Or if Ohio just has a tanning problem? What guys would actual go to a tanning SALON (aside from the thick necks)?

my girlfriends mom bought them a tanning bed. It is cheaper in the long run, plus I do not have to worry who sweated on it prior to me. But I do not think I would go and pay to go tan in a public place.

That is true and i can understand that. I read somewhere that tanning beds are one of the dirtiest public places, even if you clean it yourself with the dissinfectant stuff.
I just dont see myself going tanning. It doesnt appeal to me. They are EVERYWHERE here. I dont know of anyone has ever been to ohio, but tanning seems to be a necessity to them.

i find it pathetic that guys will actually go pay to lay in a bed just to get a tan. thats way too metrosexual for me and borderline.. arghmm.. playful your skin will look 70 before you turn 40. not to mention the skin cancer possibility. stick to the sun if you want some tone.

im in the cleveland area too. i have no idea why.. people tan like its crack. im guessing there are more tanning places in the northern part of the US over the south. maybe places in california are exceptions because people will pay for anything there. but ohio is kind of a stupid place to live anyhow.. (im ready to move when i get the chance).
people will make fun of you for tanning though.. even girls will sometimes call you out for doing it. its all based on perception and personality.

i think there is a huge diff between piercing ears and going tanning.
You mean besides the fact that no one really knows you went tanning unless you tell them as opposed to earings because they're visible all the time?

I can't really see ANY reason to go tanning. It's bad for you. I end up getting a tan in the summer despite wearing lots of sunscreen because I ride my bike to work, and garden.
Isn't the whole point of having a tan proof that you get outside exercise? I mean a tanning bed tan is so lame. The fake tanner stuff is pretty good now if you are desperate, and it's safer than the sun/tanning bed.
As for guys with earrings? Well, depends on the earrings. I think guy with body jewelry are hot hot hot, but please god don't get one of those giant hideous fake diamond earrings. I like the simple CBR (captive bead ring) style.

I dont tan anymore - did in HS then my first year of college I took a basic health class and the prof showed us pictures of skin cancer and told us they were of her mom, I was so sad that I decided to remain indoors on the computer for the rest of my life.

Why bother with being so worried about what other people think? I'm generally not in favor of tanning, but I did go once a week for about 2 months leading up to my wedding. Since I worked during the day, and usually was too busy on the weekends, I didn't have time to get a regular sun tan.

Yeah, I fail to see the big deal. People need to quit worrying about what other people do, unless you're actually rolling in the hay with another guy, not much you do is going to make you less of a heterosexual male.
I've never been tanning myself (thought I should, I'm naturally fair-skinned and get very pale over the winter), but I just don't have the time or real desire to. Plus the whole cancer thing -- I got some major bad sunburns when I was younger, I'm talking like 3rd degree burns, and I'm paranoid THAT did enough damage for things to turn malignant one day. I'm not going to push my luck and accelerate the process.
But I do know a lot of guys who do it, in fact the apartment manager at my last apartment several years ago had a tanning bed of his own.

i live in AZ and there are a fair number of tanning salons...it gets too damn hot here in the summer and you go from one AC building to your AC car to the next AC building...that is the only reason why i can think that people out here go tanning....as far as guys tanning....i enjoy my farmers tan thank you very much

I think there is nothing wrong with a guy darkening his complexion. You should be careful how you do it though because a lot of methods are not healthy.
I'm doing an offer for the Celladerm tanning stuff and I guess I'll try it out. I'm not sure how good it is to have chemicals like that on your face though.

Woah I tried this tanning cream and it darkened my complexion quite well.
I'd just use the tan in the bottle stuff if you want a tan. Hopefully the chemicals aren't that bad for your face though. It's much better than going to a tanning place in my opinion.
My face is now just as tan as it was when I got back from a trip to Cancun 2 years ago.
