My faith in a local radio station has been restored!

A station near me used to carry Stern in the mornings -- not that I listened to it that often. I usually listen to Drew & Mike, a local morning show, but once in a while I would switch to Stern.

When he went off the regular airwaves, they picked up Rover's Morning Glory. It was hyped up like none other, so I thought it would be good. After the first day, I couldn't bring myselves to listen to them. Annoying doesn't even begin to describe them.

Last week... they dropped Rover in favor of Opie and Anthony. I haven't listened to them much, but it's a huge improvement. Moral of the story is that Rover's Morning Glory blows.

Yeah, I've noticed that after Stern went off regular broadcasting, all these annoying wanna-bes came on the air. Each trying to be more loud and outrageous than the next, while in the process just being very annoying.

Yeah, I don't mind shock radio at all, but it seems like these guys are just trying way too hard. Stern's shock radio was funny because he was already funny.

Too many try to follow the "zoo" template. It's really disturbing when you hear a lot of shows across the US.

Keep in mind, you only hear O&A because of a deal with XM to partially simulcast them on FM. I don't know if that's enough reason to believe that radio, in general, is better now.

I'm not a huge O&A fan, they're just better than Rover. I love Drew & Mike on WRIF, but once in a while I need to turn the dial for a change.

I watched a video clip from Opie and Anthony, and I just don't find them funny.

Bob and Tom all the way.

from wiki
An incident on the September 21, 2006 broadcast sparked controversy when, during an on-air telephone interview with "Weird Al" Yankovic, the crew repeatedly questioned and made light of the death of Yankovic's parents, causing him to become audibly upset. At the end of the interview, Yankovic hung up abruptly; this was followed by numerous angry calls from both concerned listeners and Al's publicist, during which Rover defended his line of questioning and the group continued to make light of the Yankovics' death.

There is no such thing as good radio.

in the past I would have said QFT, but in recent years I have discovered lots of good public radio stations consisting of volunteers playing their own selections with no agenda.

Music aside, XM receivers pwn Sirius ones so much, that I pat the shoulders of their sales reps. They need [i14bd6756ca]some[/i14bd6756ca] acknowledgement they're alive. lol

Now, Sirius has some decent music channels, but aside from the better receivers, including portables (Sirius only just is getting into that market), XM has [i14bd6756ca]three[/i14bd6756ca] times the customers Sirius has.

AND they have O&A. (Which are still funny) ;)

XM is the winner here.
