So the other day I was watching this video that compared the Evo 8 and a Lambo. The video blew me away so I went out and test drove the Evo. It had 2 miles on it and apparently me driving a CTS wasn't proof enough of having enough money for the Evo so the guy had to check with his manager to make sure it was ok because they don't let people test drive them.

So they let me drive it, and it was amazing. Probably one of the quickest cars I've ever driven. The car had a button to control the headlights and shine where I wanted them to shine. It even had a button to control how much power went to each wheel. I was amazed because the guy let me drive it as fast as I wanted. At one point I had it up to 120mph in like 10 seconds. The handling was so tight, and the shifting had no play at all. It was 37K and I think it would be worth every penny. After I was done driving it I parked it and there was smoke billowing out of the hood scoop from all the fresh oil that was burning off.

I've heard that the clutch on Evos are a problem.

high maintenance? first scheduled maintenance for a brand new bmw is at 15,000, count 'em, 15000 miles. and of course, all maintenance is included for 50k/48mo, which is also how long the bumper to bumper warranty lasts.

bmws have adaptive headlights (which automatically direct light where you're turning) and traction control systems which also automatically do what you describe.

I'm just saying he's my friend, he's 20, and just bought a $108,000 car. I doubt that if one thing goes wrong with that, he's going to be fucked

shrug

Although, that might just be me.

And your "sarcasmn" isn't needed.

Also, he's had 2 other BMWs that he's never had major problems with, so I think you need to reasses your facts, no offense.....

And congrats to OP - I wish I could drive something like that (

Although, my Yaris comes close to being that nice ;)

Yes, he bought it. He traded in his SLK350 and his fully pimped-out 330xi to buy it. I think he financied like 20k just to build credit, but if he wanted to, he could have just paid it out in full )

I get to drive it next week )

my friend was going to get this car actually, but ended up getting a Mazda RX-8 because it was a lot cheaper. She said they drove the same roll

I doubt, but i have never driven either. Can anyone comment?

nah, beamers are no good after 60-70k (miles).

They are wonderful under warranty. because if something goes wrong, warranty's got you covered like a jimmy sack.

But after the warranty's up you'll probably be OK, but if a part fails out, then it is a lot more expensive as apposed to other cars. Whereas w/ a jap the same thing might happen, but the part would be a 1/3 of the cost, labor on those cars is more too.

Although, if you are an aggressive driver, they tend to poop out earlier. Pushing them too hard really cuts down their life.

i don't know if i agree. i used to drive a 1994 318i, my parents still have it, drives great. the water pump kicked out but thats a 100k mi part (and it lasted until 160k). we replaced it ourselves, no problem. personally every experience i've had with bmws has reinforced my impression that they are quality built and overengineered.

that said, i think its wise to sell before the warranty is up and get the latest and greatest )

People who buy a really expensive beamer most likely will not care about an expensive part to fix......

Maybe I'm wrong though
