See that config? I like it. I needs DDR2 memory. (DDR2 800)

I want 2 GB...however, it's all really expensive, and I've heard that OCZ causes a lot of problems with motherboards.

I'd prefer two 1 GB sticks, so uh...please help me determine a cheap/great memory for that system. ) (and usually there are discounts if I were to get the [2x1GB] packs)

Thanks.

I never heard of G.SKILL, which is why I was hesitant to even look at it.

Are they a good brand?

Sweet, thanks! D

Anyone have any better suggestions?

I typically buy only Crucial, Corsair, or OCZ. Mushkin is another quality brand. G-Skill can be hit-or-miss sometimes.

Another less expensive but very popular brand known for it's quality is Patriot, you might look into that one.

Hmm. The OCZ ram that I wanted to get...the reviews said that there were always problems with it. ?

And Corsair is extremely expensive, as well as OCZ. I'm not sure about Crucial though.

OCZ is a very high-end RAM designed for enthusiasts and overclockers. It always rates at or near the top in terms of performance, but like all enthusiasts parts it can be finicky with the hardware it's mated with. Personally I've not had any issues with OCZ, but I don't have any DDR2 either.

Mmm.

Maybe I'll stick with the G.SKILL. Looks the cheapest.

Yea. Karma to uh...Darkside and dmorris. Thanks guys. D

I was thinking of building a computer as well, but I was wondering if anything "big" was coming out in the near future (2 months) that would cause price drops or a major change in computers?

Probably in Q1 or Q2 of 2007, 65 nm processors from AMD. That's about it, and maybe updated AM2 processors, (faster L1/L2 cache). Maybe some video card upgrades, although the 7950GX2 will be useful for about another 50 years. lol

[that is if you're thinking about building an AMD rig]
