Imageshack makes the transparent background turn like yours. I edited my image out.

IE has a bug where PNG transparency isn't displayed correctly without a Javascript patch. Firefox will display it correctly. That might be why some of you thought x323's first post wasn't transparent.
Although PNG is by far superior to GIF (unless you need animation), GIF iis recommend when transparent web graphics are required, because too many people use IE where transparent PNG's look like crap.

And it's about freakin' time. That transparency bug has existed since IE5 I think. I was suprised recently though to find a Javascript hack that uses a DirectX renderer filter accessible through the IE object model, to fix the bug. It's a small JS include you add to your web pages, and it's invisible to users. I should see about adding it here to FiPG.

i remember designing a site once, using transparent PNGs. i found a javascript code that could be included in the pages and it made them display correctly in IE. i cant' remeber what it wast though. try google. shrug
