I have an iBook and a MacBook, and a 4GB Mini. Obviously I can't keep iTunes up to date and synched on both computers.

Is there a Mac software I can use to keep iTunes up to do as the iPod is refreshed and updated (likely using the iBook, if it matters).

You are going to need an ipod "hack" or program that allows you to search your ipod for the music files (just invisible files, btw). Now, there are a few programs out there, but you are going to have to decide if you want to go through the hassle of finding which songs you have on your ipod, but not computer; or if you want a program that recognizes the songs on your computer and updates it from there. There are quite a few of the first types of applications that are freeware, but i've yet to find one that does the second activity that is free.

I have used.. Ipodrip (demo), ipodder (freeware?), and iPodCopy (demo, and a decent app). There used to be a file called ipoddownload 1.01, but it was threatened to be removed by apple, and the designer did so. you might be able to search for it and find a source, because it was actually just a plug-in for itunes that let you copy music.

anyways...to search for a bunch of different apps to try, go to macupdate.com. they have some good ones...

I'm uncertain of what you mean. Do you want to copy music [i8724cb2c27]off[/i8724cb2c27] your iPod? (Seems like megotcash thinks so)

The latter, this is actually for a friend. Ideally, she'd use iTunes at home on her iBook, update the iPod, and then when she gets to her office, plug in the iPod into her Macbook, and it would update iTunes there as well.

I've used ephpod to copy files before, but she'd much prefer to have some sort of automated process / program to do this...

What do you mean by "update there as well"? Just copy the songs from the MacBook that aren't on the ipod to the ipod? or what exactly?

Kind of. All of her music is at home, and she'd like to be able to keep the MacBook synched up with the iBook at home. That is, she wants to use the MacBook to play her music, while at work.

The rub of course, is that as her iPod evolves (she updates the songs/playlists via her iBook) she'd like her MacBook to reflect those updates, preferably with an easy software solution.

Ok, so she wants to take the music off the ipod onto the MacBook. As you already mentioned, there are plenty that you can use, but I don't know about automated programs.

Doesn't the new version of iTunes support this now?

Edit Never mind, only works with purchased music roll
