Hey guys, I just recently built a computer I can monitor the speeds on, and I was wondering what you guys run yours @ mine runs @

Fan - 3068
CPU- 40 degrees c
Volt - 1.38

FSB - 800.36
MHz - 2411.59

(idle)

I wasnt sure if that was high or low, I have 1 case fan and a Heatsink... how does that compare to yours? and how high can it go w/ out it starting to smoke? Thanks Alot!!!

What are your system specs? Last generation Intels are the only ones I see that would run 40 odd degrees Idle.

40 degrees for a dual core X2 (939 or AM2) sounds about right. If you're planning on overclocking or if you see any system instability because of heat (I think the chip you have can go up to around the high 60s before it starts throttling back), grab an aftermarket CPU Fan like a Zalman 7 series or the 9550. They tend to run with a much lower rotational speed so they don't make much noise at all and they also lower temps a good 7-10 degrees. If there's space in your case for it, getting a fan for intake in the front and one to pull out the warm air in the back would also be good for cooling stuff off. I think you'll be fine though as long as you aren't greeted by a gust of hot air when you open your case.

How high does it scale when it's under load by the way? That's a much better indicator of whether or not your chip runs hot or if you didn't seat the fan properly.

not to bad for dual core. I have a mobile chip OC'ed pretty nicely with my voltage at like 1.7v idle at like 37C. But i have a good cooling system. Do you have a good cooling system? If so you can up the voltage and multiplier/fsb and OC that bad boy

Anyone have experience with water cooling? I'm thinking of within the coming months when I go SLI to get a water cooling system, just a tad worried about the install.

Also, if anyone does have experience what does it usually bring temperatures down by?

here's what i have

AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core 4200+
Asus A8N Mobo
nVidia GeForce 7900 GT 256mb, 256 bit
160GB WD SATA HD
2GB Corsair XMS Ram
Antec 500W PSU

theres the cd drive and yada yada that doesnt need to be included and look at my temps

from the above posts im guessing 28 C is good for amd dual core?

well, later on I'm gonna really put the hammer to it (not literally) I was also considering http//www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1532937&Sku=T925-2108

is that even worth considering?

get that only if you plan on major overclocking

On a completely different topic, Aurelius, I love your avatar. I can watch that forever.

well i ran halo 1400x900 for an hour, and the top temperature my CPU went to is like 52, should i be fine?

i dont get why you get 40 C idle and i get 28 C idle and i have an amd dual core >_> i dont have water cooling or anything, just the fan that came with the processor and fans on the case

ill see what my temp is runnin bf2
