I keep seeing commericals about them, but are they any good? They claim to make really cheap HDTVs and since I'm looking around for a 42" HDTV and I looked
this one[=http//vinc.com/products/detail.aspx?pid=12]this one. It's not an amazing deal, but still pretty good for a HDTV at $1,400. It has PIP, up to 1080i and a lot of other good stuff. I was wondering if anyone hear of / had and experience with them.

I've heard good things about them in the various AV and Deals forums I frequent, and the LCD's at 37" and below that I've looked at in stores look pretty nice for the money. I haven't heard anything about their plasmas, however -- didn't even know they made plasmas.
I think for the money they're a good buy.

[quoteeba7e22fa9="Chris"]Sony 55" LCD $1299

On its surface, a decent deal perhaps. But not for everyone, for several reasons
[listeba7e22fa9][lieba7e22fa9] It's a rear projection, not a direct view like a plasma or the Vizio LCD panels, which always cost more than RP. By itself RP is not a bad thing from a technical standpoint, you just can't hang it on the wall and will have to also buy a stand -- and if you wanted a matching Sony stand you're looking at several hundred more dollars. My SXRD matching stand was $500.
[lieba7e22fa9] It's a 55" LCD, which IMO looks pretty bad, from ANY manufacturer, including Sony. At 42" and above, I wouldn't buy LCD. Either DLP or SXRD, with SXRD being my biased favorite. ;) I wouldn't really buy plasma either, but between the two I'd rather have a big plasma than a big LCD.
[lieba7e22fa9] I haven't checked this deal, but those Fry's ads are usually restricted to specific markets, and the San Jose area usually has MUCH better deals than the rest of the country. So unless you live near there, the deal doesn't apply. That's why folks get pissed on the Deals forums when somebody posts a Fry's sale item from there, because it's seldom good anywhere else.
[lieba7e22fa9] It says $1799 "before savings." Is the savings instant or MIR? MIR makes the deal less attractive to a lot of people.[/listueba7e22fa9]
