anybody else planning on sending mcdonalds a bunch of envelopes to get game pieces this october? You get back 4 game pieces plus either $1 or $5 Best Buy Bucks. I am working on writing some right now.

JordanE

22-09-2006 22:35:06

They send you Best Buy Bucks when you request game pieces?

EDIT Also is there a max you can request?

Tholek

Didn't they change some hing last year, compared to the year before that made them harider to use somehow? (I forget, but I thought some people were pissed off at a change)

So to clarify this You can use stamps.com and such for the stamps, right? It doesn't require sticky post office stamps?

Bentley

23-09-2006 02:45:33

It requires a first class stamp .39. Theres a 1/12 chance of getting a $5 Best Buy Buck (BBB). But if you like buying shit at retail from best buy ur gauranteed $1 for .78 because you have to send a SASE which you have to have a smaller envelope inside the outer envelope address to urself so they can mail them back to u.

Tholek

Yes, you can. Essentially, you can double dip, even though they say you can't. This is using the BBB in the store and then online.

oh...and just read this in the rules (

"Requests that are sent in business reply envelopes, that are photocopied, mechanically reproduced or not mailed in separate outer envelopes will NOT be honored."

JordanE

So how many is everyone going to send out?

I'm decideding between 50 and 100. Also I think costco and or sams club sells stamps at a slight discount (but you have to buy like 100) might be worth looking into.

unknown uchiha

23-09-2006 11:48:50

Send out 200, you get back $200 or like a neat profit of sorts to go crazy at BestBuy on. Can you say green iPod Nano or PSP/DS Lite? =D

JordanE

23-09-2006 12:17:21

You can't use them to buy game systems...

Can you buy an item with the BBB and then return it for store credit?

I don't see why not if you have the receipt.

JordanE

23-09-2006 12:31:54

Hmm if thats the case than I may invest alot more into this...Send in 600 requests buy three ipod nanos return theme for credit pre-order a PS3 sell it and as you can imagen the profitability of this promotion just went way up. If PS3 shortages are anything like the 360 than they will probably go for around $1,500 on eaby.

CougarKid

23-09-2006 12:32:11

So the profit is around what? .50? I'm kinda confused.

megotcash

[quote131aebd010="CougarKid"]So the profit is around what? .50? I'm kinda confused.[/quote131aebd010]

ya...kinda. You are going to spend about .81 cents to send out each envelope (2 stamps, 2 envelopes), and you should get about 1.38 back in BBB for each envelope (1 in 12 is a $5 BBB), so you are getting something around .57 cents for every envelope you send out. Now, if you also calculate how much you might loose if you resold the item (ipods... maybe 25%-ish?) then you are making even less, plus fees such as ebay seller fees.

But, if you were planning on buying something, this is a good deal to get 200 BBB for about $117.45. Also, you will get lots of free food and such, so that helps out for a reason to do it.

Umm, for people who have done this before... did you put your name on it? I'm not like afraid to tell them my name, i just figure it would save me a lot of time to not write my name on both the return address and the return envelope.

Bentley

23-09-2006 13:18:18

Man you guys should read the rules. Any returned merchandise bought with BBB will be forfeited and you will be refunded with the difference you payed in cash. Also if you can't pay the balance they will be forfeited. So NO store credit.

megotcash

the only other way to get around it would be to take it back WITHOUT the receipt and get store credit. especially if you live in a town with more than one bestbuy, then it should be easy to get away with a bestbuy giftcard to use towards a ps3 or something else.

just be careful...

Exactly, and if you wanna take it a step further you can buy an item(s) with that credit and return it for cash. I'm not sure if there supposed to allow you to do this or not but i've done it many times with dvds/video games/software..etc.

I'll probably send in 250, which is about $200 in stamps, little less. All you have to do is send the letter to mcdonalds, and inside the envelope has to be a SASE and do you have to include a note that says you want a game peice?

megotcash

i don't think you even need a note. just send the outside envelope to the mcdonald's game, with your address as the return address, and on the inside include a stamped envelope to yourself!

OldManWrigley

23-09-2006 16:05:08

Just saw a guy say if you send in 500 entires you'll make about $115 - $135 - so that goes to say if you send in 250 entires, you'll make about $57 - $67. I don't think $60 is worth it to go out and buy 500 stamps and 500 envelopes and then hand write them all shrug

However if you were doing 2,000, you'd probably make about $500 or so, which is an alright deal.

megotcash

23-09-2006 16:14:36

umm...i think you will make more.

1.38 (approximate return in BBB) - .81 (cost of 2 envelopes and postage) = .57 (profit on each envelope)

.57 x 250 = $142.50.

So...if you really wanted something from bestbuy, or even if you just wanted to make a little cash, it still is possible. plus, you will be getting a lot of free food, and some game pieces if you care to try 'em out.

23-09-2006 17:53:41

oh...i think my math was kinda misleading in my first equation. here is another way to put it --->

200 BBB / 1.38BBB (approximately what you will get) = 145 (envelopes that will need to be sent) x .81 = 117.45

so... if you had invested $117.45, you would get about 200 BBB, which means your return for the [bc89fa665f9]117.45[/bc89fa665f9] and giving you [bc89fa665f9]82.55[/bc89fa665f9] profit.

so...if you invested $200, you would get about a [bc89fa665f9]$114[/bc89fa665f9] profit.

soo...it is more than just $80 profit for $200 invested. You would only need to invest $117 to get the $200 BBB. and that is why the profit would only be $80.

haha..i've literally filled up a page of math equations now D

i think it something like 42% profit for the whole mess...

[b1b15cbe8fd]Costs -Note I bought everything from costco so I got everything alittle cheaper[/b1b15cbe8fd]
1x 500 #10 envelopes = $5.00, $5.00/500 = $0.1 each
2x 100count rolls of stamps = $77.50, $77.50/200 = (aprox) $0.38 each
1+1+38+38= 0.80 per entry.

[b1b15cbe8fd]BBB Return[/b1b15cbe8fd]
Aprox value per entry $1.38
1.38x100 = $138.00
$138.00 - $82.50 in supplies = $55.50 total profit

Not bad for about an hours work. As it stands I will have 300 extra envelopes so I may go out and buy anther 200 stamps I'll see how big of a pain the first 100 entrys are. Also If we can "double dip" that will double my BBB return plus around $15 worth of free food and an okay chance at winning one of the smaller prizes.

I found this to be intresting,

[quotea52c58fdbd]Food Prizes Medium French Fries ($1.11), any Large Beef Sandwich ($2.05), any Breakfast Medium Extra Value Meal® ($3.51), Small McFlurry® ($2.10), Small Soft Drink or Small Coffee ($1.00), and any Breakfast Sandwich ($2.02). Retail values of McDonald's Food Prizes (each, a "Food Prize") are based upon national average price points as of April 27, 2006. The odds of winning a McDonald's Food Prize over the course of the Game are approximately 1 in 7.2. Odds may be higher or lower for specific Food Prizes and change as the Game progresses and prizes are awarded.[/quotea52c58fdbd]

That means for every $1.80 (two entrys) spent on entrys you should when a food prize. There are also olny two items worth less than $1.80. So even if you olny send in two entrys you should atleast make $1.20 in total profit from the BBB's and the food item. Of course this is really olny relevent if you like mcdonalds and intend on using the food coupon. If you don't use the coupon you olny make aprox $0.20 in profit.

[quotea49de8045c="shortys408"]the game peices they send have among them free food?[/quotea49de8045c]

You have a 1 in 7.2 chance at winning one of the food items I listed above. Since you get four game pieces per entry, every two entrys you should a food item.

I'm sure you already know this but incase you weren't thinking about it this way...Take the number of entrys you are going to send, multiply that number times four and then divide by 7.2 your answer will be the number of food items you should win.

[ba49de8045c]Example[/ba49de8045c]

100 entrys x 4 = 400, 400/7.2 = 55.555556 total winnings = 55.

justinag06

24-09-2006 20:27:13

avg value of the food is $1.96

$1.96/7.2 = $0.27

$1.38 + $0.27 = $1.65

$1.65- $0.80 = $.85

you are getting better than 21 on your money here factoring in the food this is a very good deal if you could resell the food and do this enough times to make it worthwhile.

what is double dip?

unknown uchiha

24-09-2006 23:08:39

Double dipping = Using in store and online (Write codes down first, spend at store, then online). If you use it online first, the codes are invalidated for the store.

[quote4dfac16a3b="mnx12"][quote4dfac16a3b="JordanE"]Pretty much yeah. Last year I used like five (got them all off of food items) on some headphones and they had scan each one. Remember though when you get your BBB's write down all of the codes before you go into bestbuy and use them so you can double dip.[/quote4dfac16a3b]
But if intend on buying something more than $200, ill have to take in at least 40, if not way more, of those things. Haha[/quote4dfac16a3b]

Someone on slickdeals said there cashier last year added up the sum of all of there BBB's and manually deducted the discount. Others have said that they scanned each BBB individually. It seems like it comes down to how creative your cashier is and or how big of a hurry there in. I would assume standard protocol is to scan each one individually, but if you get a more experienced cashier or someone with an over ride card they may speed the processes up.

I wonder if it will pan out that way. It should, but this thing IS rigged, and I don't mean the past grand prizes.

I've dined with enough friends at one time at MickeyDs during past Monopoly promotions to realize the odds stated aren't true. If that weren't enough, those circular pieces in the past ALWAYS had a free food item. Not a chance of one, EVERY one had one.

Would it be okay to do stamps.com again aslong as I don't do it from a freebie site? Like if I just signed up through there site? That $5 in free postage is very tempting...

I have decide I am gonna do this because I want a few new video games(saints row and maybe a couple of more) But I dont understand, what is a 'SASA' and, on the outer envolpe it has the return address on the top left and the mcdonalds address and on the inside, the return and mailing address is the same? or is the return address on the inside mcdonalds? And is it a max of 3$ each time you go in? I am gonna def double dip. I am going to costco and buying 100 stamps. With double dipping and some free food and collecting among my friends, I should have enough for a couple of 360 games. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Also is it against the rules to have your uncle or family member in NY to send you the game pieces they get and send it to CA? Thanks!

Bentley

26-09-2006 03:45:31

"SASE" Self Address stamped envelope. Outer envelope has the layout of sending out a card then a smaller envelope (Inside) is addressed back to you so there address in the outside and yours in the middle

You can also win prizes with the online game, each piece you get comes with a code that you can use on the website, you enter it, and then roll some dice and if you land on certain spots, you can win PSPs and giftcards. A lot better chance the more you send..

Something that is kinda weird though is that they where all post marked the 10th and came from Cleveland Ohio. Thats a two day turn around. Witch is incredibly fast for just a stamp, regardless of the fact that they where sending it from across the country.
