lol lol lol lol lol lol
Are you serious? For those really looking to live on the wild side, they should add a feature that makes the unit explode if the same song plays 3 times in within a given time frame. Talk about uncertainty ....
Um... so the point is, this seems pretty useless to me. idea

stupid, wtf is the point of that? Just use your iPod, I guess if you haven't gotten a free one it's somewhat cheaper, about $100.

stroid--its apple's business stategy. they are trying to eat up the whole entire mp3 market so that the Windows users can see how easy and intuitive Apple's iPod and iTunes is, and they hope to turn them into Mac users. People like me, for example, never really thought about buying a mac because "almost nobody uses it" and "their software selection sucks". After using iTunes and iPod, i'm actually thinking about getting the Mac mini. Thats what apple is hoping to do.

Point well made but i still have to say that it sucks. And after having an ipod i would also consider a Mac, although i love my AMD 64

By far the worst idea apple has ever had in years...well maybe not the worst wink but definitely retarded....

Oh and did anyone catch this...

"Touch of Genius

Good things really do come in small packages. The controls on the iPod shuffle feel as intuitive and easy to use as those on every iPod model. Play, pause, skip, repeat, [b87e3e21ba4]shuffle[/b87e3e21ba4] and hold at the touch of a thumb The circular, ergonomic controls and one-click slider make it simple to listen without looking."

why would you need to shuffle a random list of songs? Has apple truely lost their minds or what?

techdude05

11-01-2005 22:32:35

nono, the iPod Shuffle is just the name of it -- it has the ability to shuffle songs (default) or you can listen to the 1 playlist you have to program on iTunes -P

I think we tend to consider this thing here only from the angle of what's available on free deals website. Sure if you compare it to the 20gb iPod or the iRiver, it sucks. When you get something for free, even if the number of referrals is not the same, the view tends to be a bit skewed.

Now, if you compare it to other flash players, the comparison is not great but a little better. That is, if you do your comparison only based on the specs of the device.

Then, if you take into account yet other elements such as the Apple design, the "iPod" part of the name, I believe this thing can fly. We shouldn't underestimate how appealing that thing might be to people who've seen the iPod featured on TV, associated it to cool and hip and will be happy to only spend $99 for it.

No?

12-01-2005 16:18:01

I completely see what you are talking about and for the price yes it way better then most flash players. I personally wouldn't want one but as for apples marketing it is a genius idea now that i think about it. Good Point 10TH!

I too thought this thing would flop. However, people buying gifts will love it. They will see at as a brand of ipod, the name that has captured mp3players around the US and everywhere else. They won't care that it's a flash based player without a screen, but will figure because it's ipod, it must be good.

so it's basically like a flash drive??

seems useless since there are so many other mp3 players that small out there and that cheap that actually HAVE capability to shuffle AND have the screen so you can see what you're listening to...

you're right, but as I said, they're not white and their name don't include iPod. Will that be enough for Apple to take over this market too? We'll see.

Another thought there's also a target consumer we've not considered the guy who already has a HD ipod and want something even lighter to go out and let the iPod sit in its dock, always connected to a high-end audio system (I know, I know, if you didn't get your iPod yet, this thought of thousands of iPods just sitting in empty houses is kinda depressing). I mean, I think I'm that target I tend to play song randomly when I go out and it certainly last for less than 120 songs in general, I wouldn't mind carrying around something lighter and smaller that I care a little less to scratch, break, lose, get stolen, etc. I wouldn't mind either if both players use the same program, and if they have a family resemblance. These are details, but they matter. At least, that's what some marketing people at Apple seem to think too...
