Don't just tell me google, because I have searched for a while and can't find the answer.

How do I set up 3 hard drives in my PC? Right now I have 2 HDDS and a DVD Burner set up. Is it possible to have another internal HDD setup? How would I do so? Do I need to buy extra hardware/software? Any help would be appreciated. I have a dell dimension 3000 if that matters.

you need a bigger PSU and an IDE cable with more connections.

make sure your mobo supports the extra harddrive (i don't see why it wouldn't?).

But my PSU has tons and tons of power connectors... the only thing for me is i'd have to buy an IDE cable with an extra IDE connector.

so If I get an IDE cable with another connection, the hard drive will be able to be installed just like the other 2? I guess I have to see if my mobo supports it? I know my PSU has another HDD Power connection.

Obviously, you can only have 2 IDE devices per cable, so if you do already on each mobo controller, you're stuck. You'd have to buy a PCI IDE controller card, to add more, or go SATA if your board supports it.

I have 5 HDs and 2 DVD-RWs. Aside from using all the IDE controllers, I bought IDE to SATA adaptors to use my IDE drives on SATA, and got a USB to IDE dongle for the last one. I've pretty much maxed things out already. )

While it isn't recommended to hang an HDD off an optical drive, you can add a 3rd HDD to the cable connected to your optical. Performance may suffer, but it will work. Just make sure you have the jumpers configured properly.

Like Tholek said, each PATA IDE port supports 2 drives, for a total of 4 PATA drives on most motherboards. If you also have SATA ports you can add even more.

if you want to do it the easy way this is for you...

but I'd go to http//www.journeysystems.com/power_supply_calculator.php

and make sure your Power supply is big enough...
