I want some good rap/hip-hop to drive to. I don't mean that new "crunk" lil'jon stuff either. I mean the good stuff. Like the old school rap. But not like hammer. Do you get what I mean? Sort of like NWA and stuff.

There are easily over ten sub-genres of hip-hop. You'll have to be more specific.

What kinds of rappers do you listen to now?

Stuff with good bass. I like to drive to it. If I'm chillin', I listen to rock or country and sometimes rap. Right now, I like B.I.G, NWA, Snoop, Dre, some Tupac, I listen to SOME T.I. cuz his new album has some good songs, like Ride With Me. Basically, if it has a good beat, good bass, and flowing lyrics, I like it.

P.S. Right now im listening to Gin & Juice.

Consider some Jurassic 5, Immortal Technique, Nas, and if you're into foreign (french) rap definitely look at NTM, Sniper, and IAM.

Personally, I think it's better than English rap because there is plenty more that rhymes in French and every syllable must be emphasized. All the lyrics rhyme and sound good, whereas in English you can pretty much make anything rhyme if you mumble it or use a heavy accent.

Also check out Common (his earlier works, like Electric Circus), The Fugees, and Method Man.

noooo on electric circus, i'm hoping you got mixed up there. Common is great, but resurrection or like water for chocolate is the one you want. I'd suggest Like Water for Chocolate, the production is def top notch with most of the beats coming from the late jay dee (rip).

heres a few albums that if you havn't heard i think you'd probably like. These are all undisputed classics

Nas - Illmatic
IAM - L'École Du Micro D'argent
Dead Prez - Let's Get Free
Roots - Illadelph halflife...or...Do You Want More!?!??
A Tribe Called Quest - Midnight Marauders
Bone Thugs - whatever their best album is
Jay Z - Reasonable Doubt
Mobb Deep - The Infamous

i could come up with more but thats off the top of my head. If you want to talk hiphop, or want some download links hit me up on aim

Ugly Duckling, Typical Cats, A Tribe Called Quest.

Those are the only three I can really name from the top of my head that are worth a listen.

I don't think he wants the pure lyrical stuff...(i.e. Immortal Technique/Common). He wants the bass that he can bump to in the car. Listen to old school Redman (Muddy Waters). And Ludacris.

K-os
The Roots
The Streets
Mos Def
Gym Class Heroes
Faithless (more dancey than rap I guess)
Danger Mouse

IT and Common have pretty strong bass, and flowing lyrics which he mentioned.

I almost mentioned K-Os but I wasn't sure if that really qualified as bass-y. Either way, he's worth checking out. Same with the Streets and Mos Def. And Talib Kweli, and [i23cb462af8]definitely[/i23cb462af8] Blackstar.

I don't like Papoose...very overrated in my opinion.

I love listening to Pac in the car....when dude is angry...damn.

Also Joe Budden (had to throw in a Jersey head in there)
