Has anyone done a project in Physics where you're supposed to creative a device that is supposed to stop an egg from breaking?

No idea what I should use....

Should I make a mini-air balloon and put the egg inside?

Due tomorrow...

Godamn.

You mean you're given some straws, some feathers, tape, a balloon and an egg? I did that once, but it was in my Tech writing class in college (we were using it to write a fax NASA press release).

Our egg didn't break from the first height (4ft? I can't remember), but it didn't last too much longer.

If that's not what you're doing, then I dunno!

I've done that.. do you have any specific materials? We were restricted to like 5 sheets of paper, some tape, and a couple of other random things. We just wadded up the paper and taped it around the egg.

Off-topic for this topic How do you like the Sony Wega? I'm thinking about going for it and giving my 27" Phillips to my parents (the only major difference is the Wega is flat screen whereas my Phillips is not, oh and the huge price difference =oD).

I absolutely LOVE the Wega.. the viewable area on the flatscreens is larger than on a regular TV. In fact, the picture on my WEGA is about the same size as my 29" regular TV. The picture quality is unbelievable too.. go for it )

No. We aren't given materials.

We're supposed to buy them ourselves...

i did the physics egg project. make sure to have a parachute. use a container, lots and lots of padding, and you should be set. the parachute is key, use part of an old bed sheet if there is no size limitation.

Buy your own materials? Ummm how bout to go a staples/officemax/other store with shipping supplies and look around. We only had toothpicks and a marshmallow....

I suggest at least getting some bubble wrap. Maybe do a parachute thing with bubble wrap surrounding the egg?

lishrugli I have a Bachelor's in English.

I poked a hole in one of those cheap footballs from KB Toys, and put the egg in there. Then, I packed the football in a shoe box filled with that packing styrofoam confetti stuff that ships with breakable things. Then, I tied the box with two rubber bands. No breakage, and it was thrown off a 4-story building, if I remember correctly.

Wow, that was almost ten years ago.
